Please forgive any typos and such I usually dont bother with any type of personal reviews but was bored =P
(Friday) I looked through the classes and saw the priest I usually choose healer/support classes so that was my pick a friend I game with picked a lancer and off we went. The level 20 starter area was full of people, you had a ton of skills and no idea what they did, once I got to my personal instance I kept being told to heal and I tried and couldnt and was quite frustrated once I finished that I was taken to the real game world where I had very few skills and tried to get into it did a few quests got level 4 but after about an hour we both logged out of the game and were done......or so we thought.
(Saturday) I live in the desert IRL and it was going to be about 110 so to me going outside wasnt going to happen I sat around pretty bored my friend logged in and said lets try Tera again I reluctantly logged in and we started to quest but something was different I looked at the game with a different take and before I knew it we were level 11 given a mount (which suprised the hell out of me a mount at 11? nice!) and we went on to explore the rest of a huge very nicly made city before heading back out to quest for quite awhile before finally logging for the night my new take on Tera after getting some new skills learning the healing and exploring new areas was that this game isnt quite so bad it has a lot going for it and we both preordered.
(Sunday) We both logged in again and started to level up some more got to 21? and we got a 5 man quest to kill some basilisks first we were going to look for a group but I said lets try to 2 man it so we did and it did take awhile for lancer and priest dps to kill them but we did it! It was really a nice change he got to practice the blocking mechanic and I got to test out some rotations and some healing. Once the 5 basilisks were defeated we got quite a bit more 5 man quests and realised it was for the first dungeon instance no way were we going to try and 2 man that so after figuring out how to que (lol) he being a tank me a healer we were instantly in (yay! for being healer/tank combo lol) and this is where the game REALLY took off for us we had done every quest together and mining nodes picking flowers and crystals now this was like a new game I had to manage dps while watching healing which was kinda tough to get into at first but I got the hang of it pretty quick my friend had a bit of trouble holding agro but my heals were able to keep up anyone who had pulled threat and atleast the mobs were leaving me alone we cleared the instance with 0 deaths and a few nice blues on our person overall it was a BLAST.
(Ending comments) I am currently just home from work the servers will be down in a hour so I wont be playing again till Sat. when early access starts but my overall take at the end was so different from the begining I can only hope this game will pan out in the end and be something worth playing for longer then a couple months after the last few MMOs let me down and I wont say any names SWT...oh right. The only issue I had was looting in the instance seemed to not let you roll I had leader passed to me and fixed that but it was a little frustrating. I have yet to get into the crafting besides gathering some various nodes and putting it into the bank, but I am one to always do some form of gathering and crafting so I look forward to it. Still my biggest hope is that the game will be fun after the leveling is done and the endgame begins.

Starting out with level 20 characters with some unknown skills is not that smart. Makes me wonder why they added this? It plain out does not work.
THe game itselves isn't bad, the quests are a bit generic, but thats what MMO gaming has all ben about for the last 8 years. If you dont like questing, stay away from MMO's.
Best parts of the game are the gorgeous graphics and the action paced combat system. (tough its still irritating that using most abbilties interupts the movement) But all in all i had a good time in beta. And if it werent for GW2 beta weekends being around the corner, i might have been persuaded to buy the game.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Glad you had fun, also if you just log out after entering the tutoral area your allow to skip it XD
Also server is up for other 12 hrs i think you got the time wrong. Glad you took the time and enjoyed it =D and yes its the lancer lol there is like no lancer in this game, so as long as you have a lancer its instant que =P
Servers go down Monday night (tonight), so there's a little more time. I'm only lvl 16 so far, but I've hear 20+ gets way better, so I'm giving it a shot and preordered. The graphics and combat convinced me, even though the typical grind was a turn off (and part of the preorder incentive is that you don't have to start over with your character of course). I too hope that the population doesn't fall off too much after a few months, although I admit to being one of those that doesn't promise to play as often once GW2 comes out.
lol I did see the wrong time I am login in now =D
(Monday) Well I get to add a day to this thanks to people telling me I could login and realising I could play for another day lol. I spent a lot of the day running instances (healing in this game is a lot of fun its not just spam heals and wait for someone to take damage you actually can and should dps in the middle of healing and for once I dont have to worry about running out of mana or something like mana) only did a bit of questing and spent the last couple of hours of the evening before the servers went down crafting, it was quite fun (but not cheap lol) I am going to be leveling tailor, focus crafting, and alchemy it is interesting to see that alchem is needed for many different mats for both tailor and focus crafting and I believe its the same for weapon and armorsmith I know you can level all of the professions but I will focus on those to try and save some gold for other things like skills, traveling etc. I went down to 5 gold not even realising it just buying reagents for crafting and was glad I stopped tho I do like crafting and I didnt want to. I had farmed over 200 mats of many different varieties and was able to get well over 150 in those three professions and still had a lot of mats left over for later use overall crafting while not difficult looks to be interesting I hope it pays out at max level.
(In closing..again) As I said before the one and only thing that worries me about the game is endgame and I have not done a lot of research on whats coming but it does look like the devs. plan to add a lot to the game esp. to pvp which makes me quite happy and I can only hope that it all works out for the better.

Than people just call it a grind fest and call it boring too. I thats thats what Lord meant is people complain its a grind fest if its pure grind and no quest. But if you have quests people say its too boring too. So those people are really just tired of mmorpgs in general.
To try out the classes and get an idea of whether you would like it or not? I for one loved the opportunity to see how different classes work at lvl 20. I was able to determine that I wanted to be a zerker instead of a slayer.
Yeah I agree, Its basically for the people who have not played the class and want to know a little bit about it as well as the kind of skills they can get later on. I think that its a good move, people like us who most likely played through the classes and Know what they are getting into might think that its pointless but it also does the story good in a way I guess.
It didn't bother me too much because I knew what class I was going to play but if I was considering a n
Just not worth my time anymore.
