Ok, so i missed out on the open beta of Tera. I am curious about this game as its different from any other MMO i have played. But now i dont see a way to play it without buying it.
So... if i preorder from amazon or the like. Get the code and then try out the headstart. Can i cancel the preoder if im not satisfied with the game? Or am i stuck with it after that?
Don't know if it works like that.

not that I know of. There are several current threads here concerning Tera, good and bad. Persinaly, I like it very much.
As far as i know EME pretty much allow anyone to cancel their pre-order if you buy from their website. However idk about now since well its about to launch and once the game offically launchs you can't cancel. So idk if they willing to let you cancel during head start which is kinda like launch. They give 5 cbt and an obt for people to decide to pre-order or not and if you missed it well you missed your test period =
If you are in the US you can most likely go to Gamestop/EB Games and do this. $5 downpayment for preorder, you can play saturday and sunday (this weekend), then monday go cancel your preorder at the store and get your 5 dollars back.
Personally I thought there was a lot to like about Tera (graphics, combat) and a lot to dislike (weak end-game at launch, horrible quests). But let's be honest, if you want to play an MMO without a cash shop these days, its not like you have any choices. You've got Rift, SWTOR, and TERA from the past what, 3-5 years? That's it.
I got my key for pre ordering on amazon, and cancelling it right after they sent me the key. I'm stil planning on buying Tera, just currently out of funds for it. But yes, the amazon pre order should work even if you cancel it. Since they only charge you a dollar up front to make sure it's a valid card, you wouldn't get charged until it's released.
