Well, it's looks like Tera is ultimately a huge success.
Gameplay and fighting style is a mix between classic hotbar skills and aimed action combat. It fun, and looks great. Millions of mmoprg players currently use a less interactive form of combat, so Tera's version looks to be a huge success.
The graphics are the best I've seen in any MMORPG. Even more so to me because I like the high fantasy art direction. I laughed the other day when I read one poster say "The graphics in Tera seem really good but they actually are not." So which is buddy? HA. Oh well. The game engine can obviously produce some eye candy scenery, and the characters look great. Total success.
PvP I never got to try. Not a big deal to me because even if it is lacking in certain ways, I'll just go play a different game with PVP. Maybe eve or hopefully GW2 if that WvWvW turns out to be pretty good.
The grind is what it is. Pretty much every mmoprg I have ever played consisted of killing small monsters %75 of the time, and well this game is no different. The community is new and really take the game seriously so the grind is lessened by talking and grouping with others. New games are complete successes at allowing for community enthusiasm.
The story is great. I knew why I was there and what I was doing. A huge landmass shows up out of nowhere and crazy ass monsters are ravaging the main continents. The same old story shared by many mmorpgs, so good enough.
The pricing is a total and complete success.
Most trolls in the open beta had the 4 tiered spiel usually in this order.
A: HOW DO I GET MY MOUNT
B: I WOULD NEVER SUB THIS GAME. IT IS FAIL
C: (one hour later) THIS GAME SHOULD GO F2P OR IT IS FAIL
GW2 HAS NO SUB
It was pretty obvious the 15 year olds were out is swarms. The subscription pricing struction and upfront purchase price will allow for cash generation and a good development cycle to continue for Tera. Also, the sub price will keep the teens who's parents only allow them one or two subs a month to stay out of the game. If the purchase price is a little steep for you I would not fear because every new mmorpg typically starts to discount their product at certain intervals, eventually becoming free to play. This will work great for Tera. Revenue now, and later, an infusion of players + revenue some time down the road as it becomes free to play. Ultimatly a solid business model.
I think En Masse will be satisfied by their subscription numbers. They didn't seem to overshoot or undershoot the amount of servers they needed. The subscriction price will keep the crowd on the mature side, and while it's great to be part of a game that has a hundred servers, that just isn't possible unless you got A LOT of the less desirables mixed in.
One thing is for sure, that 2012 is a great year for gamers. There's a ton of options for just about everybody and TERA is a great addition to that list of options.
massive huge complete total success
go cry to your mother about it.

Well according to the votes on this site the top 5 are as followed (not including hyped games which would GW2 (ratng 8.76) as 1st place)
1st - Rift (rating 8.33)
2nd - Lord of the Rings online (Rating 8.26)
3rd Guildwars 1 (8.26)
4th Everquest 2 (8.26)
5th Fallen Earth (8.26)
Tera currently around the 60th place at 7.81 rating
Can argue that because it isnt out yet but if thats the case there still 6 unreleased games above it in rating atleast on MMORPG game rating List http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/show/all/sCol/rankHype/sOrder/desc
I never take the rating system on this site seriously but only as a general direction of good or bad. anything below 6 sucks anything above is tryable, but only in general and ratings arent accurate, im not necessarily saying TERA deserves better or worse as far as rating, every player is different. if you go back SWTOR had even more hype than GW2 on the rating/hype and it sucks now, for a P2P game anyway.
The following is potentially off topic.
"INTERVIEWER: What is the most powerful or the best form?
BRUCE LEE: (smiles) Well, it's bad to say "the best" but, in my opinion, I think Gung Fu is pretty good."
Enjoying something is valueble enough for a person, in my opinion. Yet this thread gave me the opportunity to post some Bruce Lee, so it's all good.
I hope you realise this site is one of the most bia site out there and they only hype game that has lot of marketing money behind it which Tera doesn't.
@OP to me Tera PvP is the best PvP in most mmorpgs because of the combat. It really does take pvp in mmorpgs to a whole new lvl with the amount fo skill required. So far only game i can stay require more skill in pvp is like grand chase but thats more like street fighter than Tera.
More humility please
L2P TERA combat:
you cant take serious any site that has rift at numer 1.
One of the few players who has played both GW2 and Tera, Gabe from Penny Arcade, has announced that he will be choosing Tera over GW2. Because he found the tab target GW2 combat to be sooo boring.
Take that as you will....
*snip*
Ignore this, wrong thread. It's 2am, shut up >_>
"Forums aren't for intelligent discussion; they're for blow-hards with unwavering opinions."
I've really impress by the open beta that i bought a CE for TERA. They've optimise their net code well enough for my liking. Pre purchased GW2 standard edition as i'm a bit wary bout how the cash shop is gonna affect the game for non paying player.
Before i played tera i didn't quite buy into the whole combat mechanic thingy as i've played other action base game like vindictus and dragon nest before. But seriously, this game imo is what aion should have been. And having a interesting combat mechanic is more important than most nay sayer claimed it to be cos combat is how we interact with the game world in mmo 80% of the time
I'm 37, I have average reflexes, latest game completed ,...Legend of Grimrock. I'm going to give TERA a try because I'm an anime and manga-fan - so I like the art. I was tempted to play Lineage/L2 , final fantasy online but one seem to lack content and is grindy and the other is too hardcore or so it seems.
From past experience, I doubt MMO's to have the same fun and immersion factor as single player games except for WOW.
To be honest I expect a learning curve to master combat in TERA, Tab targetting and the frustrating interrupted cast timebar makes the newer style combat system a plus.
Predictably I will try rush and optimize a cookie cutter build to get to max level and see what endgame content is like. (If I find it fun, I end up trying more classes and really explore around and spend more idle time chatting.)
Not being cynical but I'm only willing to invest subscription money in games when I find it fun. Otherwise I vote with my feet and buy single player games instead.
Having said all that I really hope TERA will be the one that lasted for me as long as WOW.
I wonder what would happen if every mmorpg on the market got a server reset.
All characters gone, and everybody had to go out and choose which game to play. I wonder how Tera would fair.
The learning curve isn't hard, if you give the effort to try and improve you should be fine. Too many people are afking for like monster hunter learning curve was was so steep its stupid.
Everyone would flood the new mmos because they already played the old ones and making them go through the same crap again most people won't be willing to restart 6+ years of work lol. It would be kinda force people to try new mmos lol interesting idea though.
