Combat mechanics OVERLOAD

Nightfall31Nightfall31 Member Posts: 9

Yes I prepurchased GW2. Yes Im playing 2morrows Beta. Yes Im a fan....blah blah blah.......

I am a bit troubled by the combat mechanics in this game though. It seems a bit overkill. After reading about tactics, strafing, dodging and the multiude of weapon choices for close, medium and long range combat, im a bit concerned.

Sure I could probably hit 1234 over and over, but in order to maximize a classed ability, I  THINK you would have to utilize all abilites etc.

Am I being overly concerned about the difficulty factor? Is it not as complex as it sounds?

basically you need to decide on 2 weapon sets which you can swap during combat.

obvious suggestion is a range and a melee set i'd say. i am curious to see how this works out, looks really nice with all the aktive and passive skill/boni you can chose from beside your weapon sets

     We'll find out tomorrow!

Some classes are harder to play than others. There are skills you should try to chain for maximum effect... and you need to pay attention to what's going on around you to avoid taking damage... but I don't think the game will be too hard to play, especially at the lower levels while people are learning the new mechanics.

Don't forget several types of self-heals, 3 active skill slots (though in beta you'll probably only level high enough to use 2 in PvE) with about 20 different skills you can unlock, your elite skill and all those pesky trait points to distribute for added playstyle customization.

Yes, you don't spam you abilities, you decide when to use them most effectively, and yes, it can be initially complex, but the learning curve though leveling isn't that bad.
