Always went for the thief classes when it came to games. I like all that 'stealthy stealthy' stuff :P
But recently tried out healing in mmos too, found it to be a fun role to play.. but bloody hell its stressful! Never forget your mana pots!
For Guild Wars I actually went Necro/Monk and I loved having my own undead army following me about ^^
Another thing I might add that was really really fun and probably the only thing I found fun in rift was when playing the healer build where you get health from aoe damage, loved it for pve.
My most favorite class in mmo in all these years was Clawbearer from Asheron's call 2 a range class just awesome specillly on Darktide free for all pvp server.
I usually try the debuff / crowd control type class first but I don't always stay there.
CoH - Illusion / Storm Controller
EQ2 - Dirge
WoW - Warlock
Lineage 2 - Abyss Walker
FFXI - Blue / Black Mage

Shaman for the flexiblity (in early WOW "flexibility" meant I could actually offheal and be fairly useful. In later WOW, the ability to demolish things as elemental was a blast -- and I suppose the offheals were still clutch on occasion.)
Mage for the fun playstyle in non-standup fights (when frostnova and blink were used, it was crazy fun.)
Honorable mentions to Warrior Priest (WAR) for being completely ridiculous at healing, Mesmer (GW) for being like playing a blue M:TG deck in a videogame, Archmage (WAR) for having a potentially sweet healer/dps hybrid mechanic (although it sounded like despite being amazing Mythic was going to redesign it to suck, despite being literally the worst class to redesign the class mechanic in the game. Mythic balancing/design is highly questionable.) Also liked the idea of Bards (RIFT), Cholomancers (RIFT), and Archons (RIFT), as classes that really broke away from standard expectations. Although I never really got to play them that often, due to low demand (or high supply) and due to mainly playing a Warrior and Cleric.

I wonder how a class designer balances the Melee and range, and some of the hybrids. that seem to be the hardest part about designing classes. you have to fit them together so they can be good in their own way.
WoW- Rogue and Paladin Tera- Lancer and Berserker Aion- Assassin and Sorc Vanguard- Paladin
Generally, however, I like some kind of Archer/Rogue mix type. Stealth Plus Ranged and Stuns. I also like a Warrior/Magic type. More of a DPS/Tank than a healer though.

Generally pure warriors or a Shadowknight type of a fighter.
Melee healers/buffers are also fun, like Aions Chanter, or Vanguards Disciple

City of Heroes really had an amazing set of classes. They were all unique, fun, and for the most part very flexible.
Bards all the way! Too bad they're usually weak and support only, 'cause using instruments to attack is so fun
Mesmer - GW1
