Ok, I stepped up and pre-ordered, downloading as I Type. Now I have to decide on PVE or PVP Server. I normally don't go with PVP but after reading some of the interesting things specificlly with PVP, I undecided. Any thoughts welcome.
Even with a PVP server I heard something about us having to be flagged to be attacked or attack others ? Is this for real ? If it is that is just sad. I would say you should create a toon on a PVP server as it gives you more options in terms of play. You can PVP. LOL I wish I knew how much fun a PVP server could be cuz I would have created a toon in WOW on a PVP server from the beginning.

You flag to attack people, while unflagged you can be attacked by anyone flagged. The only problem I've encountered is some questzones have "safe" spots which take away from being able to grief enemies. I'm definitely interested in seeing how it unfolds though. I like its everyone vs everyone and not Faction 1 vs Faction 2 kind of setup.

PvP servers can be a joy and frustration to play on. IMO pve can be fun but it tends to be repetitive but if you add into the mix of potentially getting PK'd while you or your group is fighting some type of boss just make the pve encounter that much more enjoyable. Yes you will be watching your back side and will be always scaning the area for REDS. You will come to know which guilds are pkers and which guilds are pk killers. The choice is yours. There are 3 pvp servers (BC is the unofficial RP-PvP server).
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

If you want to miss out on half of the game go PvE, if you want to actually experience everything TERA has to offer, PvP is the server you should choose.
Someone above seemed slightly confused as to how PvP works, so I'll explain briefly.
You get an outlaw skill around level 11 when you leave the Noob Isle and go to Velika. To attack other people, you have to toggle on this outlaw skill. You do not have to have this toggled on to be attacked or to attack an attacker.
It's quite simple, really. It's been put in place so that you don't accidentally attack group members and such.
I play on a PvP server, I never even bothered trying the PvE server. Many of my guild members rolled PvE during the open beta, hated it and joined us here. If you're so conflicted, I recommend trying both and see what fits your playstyle better.
The PvP servers are most definitely the more popular ones, but it might just seem that way because there's only 3 but atleast 2 of the 3 almost always have a queue with Valley of Titans having the longest while the other servers are generally queue free. I wish they added a PVP-RP server. I think that would be more fun then the PvE-RP server...

You and me both. I went to Basilisk Crag because it was deemed RP-PvP, unofficially, but sadly it seems as though theres little of that going around and I have absolutely no interest in a PvE server.
I'm still hoping that they rethink this decision they've made and that they pop up with a new RP-PvP server. I'll move their immediately, no matter what.
Huge queues on all PvP servers though this weekend. Like 2700+ at 3 hours on one I saw lol.
In most games I go PvE for my main, and then once I see a good alt class I roll on the PvP server. Any of you picking up this game might want to do the same until the queue dust setlles after a week or two.
