There is a message from Sony on their "station" site. Due to changes in European tax laws, they will have to add 17.5% of sales tax to the price of the subscription to SWG (EQ and all other games as well). Which raises the price per month for Europeans to nearly $18.
The only good news is, that the price is in US dollars, which are becoming increasingly worthless in comparison to the Euro.

Your not missing out on much! Whether you liked the game or not no one can say, but is it worth the price in it current state, HELL NO!
Yes, the prices are mad, because LucasArts can do that. I mean Everyone wants to try it or play it. Seeing as they now have over 275,000 subscribers, I think that they're making LOTS of money.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know the price in Canada. It's 25$ a month. And that hurts. Our spending dollar can be viewed as kind of the same as U.S. dollars, even though the exchange rate is quite different. So anyway, I hope everyone who wants to play, can earn the money to subscribe.
I've done this 100s of times. . .
Here's an example:
275,000 users x $13 (USD) a month = $3,575,000 x 12 months = $42,900,000 a year. . .
That's just for one game. I know it cost a lot of money to keep these types of games up and running, but $43 million! WOW! And you have to remember that half of this is the British Pound which is almost twice that of a USD... etc etc...
EverQuest, Planetside, EverQuest2, EQOA... plus a few others = tons of money... SOE is sitting pretty right now.

The game certianly wasn't worth the $22 CDN I was paying for monthly fees. I will not be renewing my subscription at the end of this months term.
I think SOE is skewing the numbers. I would honestly be suprised if there are over 150,000 active accounts playing this game. SOE and Lucas are playing on words here by saying they have 275,000 "registered" users. I assume this is how many people are registered at Station.com. For instance, I will still be "registered" there in a couple weeks, but I will no longer be a "subscriber" with an open account in the game. So how many people have they included who cancelled after the first free month (I know at least 10 myself), and how many people who pre-ordered and cancelled that order are still listed as "registered " users? There are reports (unconfirmed) from some EB Games outlets that up to 50% of the pre-orders were cancelled after the first wave of reviews hit the Net.

I read a press release at station.com saying they have over 10 million registered users there.
So no, 275,000 is not the number of rego'd users at soe.com
well their is free months...
Server costs... paying the people who made the game...
Lucasarts gets some of the money. And some of the money goes towards Expansion packs etc etc
They are getting some money but i am sure they are paying off loans and what not.
Thats what businesses do... make money!
