Ok idk about how everyone else feels but i find thsi weekend to be most funny and epic weekend so far for Tera. I mean for the past 2 month i been playing the shit out of ever CBT and the only OBT, and for all 6 of those weekends Tera was really on the down low. 4 servers, only really ever had que on cbt 1 and seem really mild. And speically with GW2 stating their first public Beta on Tera headstart weekend everyone didn't think it seem to be looking good for Tera. Many people who were waiting for GW2 decide not to pick up Tera to pass time, many Tera player were going to play GW2 and all those stuff.
And than GW2 beta hits on friday and you know with the overly excited fanbase. And you know the game wasn't what some people expected, and ironiclly helped Tera because the game was very unpolished and didn't meet up to their expections. And so now everyone is flooding in to Tera instead of GW2. I know anyone who played like the CBT and OBT will tell you we never had this much people trying to play Tera at once. CBT1 there was some long ques but only up to 1hr tops and stopped having que like 6hrs in to the game. We are now like 32hrs since the server has gone up, and we still have over 1hrs que for VoT and JC and BC has like 20minuate que. EME even added a new pvp server in (which i knew they were going to add in for server way) but i swear they never would have expected to need to add server in during head start. And like everywhere people are asking for headstart keys left and right lol. I know just like on my friends vent, it was only me and one other person playing. Than 2 more pre-odred and than 2 more and than suddenly the whole vent is playing Tera XD Spreading like a virus.
And I have to thank GW2 for it all lol, thank you NCSoft for rushing out GW2 before it was ready so people would play Tera instead =P
And O before the trolls start flaming and stuff, this is my opinion and ONLY APPLY TO SOME not ALL.
sorry, but thats just not true. i logged on to tera for a while last nite at prime time and found it kinda quiet. it was far more lively during its OB.
the people whining (which you could only gather numbers here, as no one bad mouths it ingame and rarely on the official boards) make up a handful....a handful compared to the thousands playing,
if what you say is true, then Tera had dismally small numbers to begin with which would not bode well for it at all
Not sure I can believe you since right now at 10:45pm PST two PvP servers are full, the third is at medium and the fourth just opened this weekend hehe.
I've waited through at least 5 1 hour ques this weekend. I am in a guild with 35 active members and most of the top guilds have over 100+ members (10 or more guilds I looked at recently). Not sure where you are gathering your information but you are sadly mistaken when most of my channels are bustling with people and you say it is quiet. Area chat is moving at an insane pace. I am fighting off people for BAMs getting insta ques for dungeons on my Lancer....yeah...
@wrightstuf lol. You must have logged into a PVE-server cause the PVP-servers are filled to the brim. And that's the ONLY thing I don't like so far with TERA. All these queues. Reminds me of the AION release. And I see like 1000-1500 in que. Is it THAT hard to get them in this day and age? Either way, once in the game its a freaking blast. The game is so well optimized and runs so smooth. And Im a european playing on the US servers. I tried GW2 some as well on friday and saturday, but that game has alot of work to do still. They are smart enough not to have given us a release date on that game yet.
Look out bro here come the fanboys!!! I find it so amusing people are like stuck to this whole "GW2 is the future" thinking of theirs. Beta or not the concept of the game is crap, and it's mechanics aren't far behind that. GW2 is a bust that people were far too excited in to let go even now. I find GW2 to be the Tebow of video games.
Also tera in US is different from the 1 year released korean version. If you do not believe me try them both yourselves. This is comparing a beta near released game to another beta near released. The moment your company starts taking pre-orders that get you into beta's... means the game is pretty close to release.
Saw them 10 miles away bro =X or sis if your a girl XD
And i know its in Beta and i do hope they fix all their stuff, but you know what? Its their own fault for trying to compete with Tera. They knew for a fact the game is in beta and not nearly polished enough, as we can see with no well optimized graphics and other issues. If they knew th at it was unpolished why the hell did they decide it was a good idea to put Beta same time as Tera head start? Doesn't matter if its Beta vs a game thats out for a year, people are going to make comparison no matters what. Also from what i seen the quests are retardly diffcult at some points where if you try to solo your pretty much screwed. The entire game feel more like alpha than a Beta with all the issue and what? 2/3 races thats not even released?
Also its really funny because before the Beta all the GW2 fanboy going on about how much better GW2 is than Tera blah blah balh, than Beta comes out they suddenly go o its only Beta you can't compare? Wtf? What happen to all the comparison of how much better GW2 was before it was even in beta? What happened to that GW2? Is this a different GW2 than the ones i been hearing about all the time?
Yeah they change their topics like no other. Anything to make their pile of poo poo sparkle right? I forgive em.
I am not a GW2 fanboy but you are still making comparison with a game which has been released once in 2011 and make it sound as if Tera team pulled of something impossible with beta in 2012.
Also i like how you ignore other posts and jump to reply to one which confirms your own opinions and mock GW2 fans..
Would you stop with the 2011 release? It was released as a different game. Play the korean version then play the US. Sure they do not have to do as much work as GW2, but they still had and have to do a significant amount of work that you shouldn't mock brabra.
Also I am not talking bugs or lack of content which is what a beta would bring, i'm speaking that the game is not what it was told to be. I was one of those who was hyped for GW2 and ever since the CBT 1 I have been in disgust with the work the team has provided. This game is NOTHING special. It's a good graphics version of WoW with less guidance and a silly dodge roll that is very limited.
I've never seen an MMO community that has to defend itself so much, what's up with that?
oh well, i'm totally spoiled now by GW2. Tera was just ok for me before. now i'm not excited much at all. i did pre order and my 1 month is set to expire may 22. I'll prob play till then before cancelling. at that point, it'll be less than a week till the next gw2 bwe. after that it will be 3 weeks till TSW comes out.
If tera does ok, then more power to ya. plenty of room for more mmos

I don´t see that much defending. I only see different views on the topic. But you saying that the servers were quite on TERA just made you look like a silly GW2 fanboy. I was one of them that was super excited for GW2, and I still am looking forward to it. But I realized after playing TERA, that GW2 just not might have what it takes for ME. I was rather disapointed with GW2. OK, it´s far from being released, but if your into PVP I think it goes without saying that TERA beats GW2 silly. And in TERA there is ACTUALL GvG. How ironic is that? But I agree, there will be room for both games. No doubt. And I´ve bought CE of both of them, so I will play em both. But GW2 needs to step up to beat TERA for me.

well i play tera and i was in gw2 beta..out of the 2 tera comes off best, but only due to the fact that it has a year on gw2 interms of release.gw2 is a great game in its own way.i do not think for 1 second that people will not buy gw2 because they will.my point is this, tera is sub based ,gw2 is BTP.does'nt take a genious to work out that the same people can own both games..i do.and if you were in gw2 whenever a screen came up.i,e stoy,it said work in progress.a few months and gw2 will be fine imo.

Evidence that NA version of Tera has been out for a year? I've said it many times now, the Korean released game and the near release (in a couple days) TERA are not the same game. That was the whole point of En Masse... to westernized a published title. That is still a lot of work that had to be done.
And they STILL work to publish in many features the Korean version has. Which means they are actively developing for a different version of a game. For example the Korean version has battlegrounds, thats something En Masse is still working on for the NA version.
There is no point in comparing the polishing and stability a game released in january 2011 and that was polished for 1 year and half with a game still in beta test and with no launch date announced. If you think that it was just a BWE there will be world imploding madness at day 1.
Still i played GW2 this BWE and the game delivered exactly what it promised. It's nice to see that for once the developers kept their promises.
There are still technical issues to solve but gameplay wise the game is magnificent. It sets new standards for the genre in many ways (but not in everything like the gearbased game concept). It's nice to see for once a mmorpg themepark that thinks different.
Still it's true that Tera took advantage of the technical issues of the Gw2 servers to get more attention. People frustrated not being able to login in the beta choose to go to an already released and stable game. It's no surprise.
It's good the 3rd may launch will be even bigger.

You are greatly misinformed. The game is out in Korea since january 2011. Enmasse worked on the westernized client but it's a far stretch to say they are "developing the game".
They are traslating the game and adjusting minor things gameplay wise. The engine, the features, and the optimization are all done by Bluehole studios in Korea. The koreans then pass the game to Enmasse.
BTW the battlegrounds were removed from Korean Tera. It's Bluehole Studios that's working on the new battlegrounds not Enmasse.
Tera is a good game there is no need to lie about it.

Well ok i'm not saying they are doing nothing. They are fixing and adjusting minor things by themselves.
What i wanted to make clear is that the game was developed and is developed by Bluehole Studio in Korea not Enmasse. The new content is made in Korea not NA (just forget about Eu where i'm playing lol i just hope Frogster doesn't kill the game in the next few months: i'm kinda worried).
1) Gw2 is still in Beta, it's the first open beta. Not the final release. For an open beta it was pretty damned amazing. World pvp was fully functional as was keep taking.
2)Tera is about a year old. I don't know why you keep saying the korean version is a different game, they're the same game. It's like having a year of beta testing and you get the final product.
3) The GW2 servers were packed. But, had 0 queue time thanks to them using overflow instances within your own server. I remember logging into Aion and having 1hr 30 mins wait to get on and play. Not that fun when I came home from work and had to go to sleep in 2 hours...
4) Gw2 may have tab targetting as well, but most of it's attacks are directional and will hit whatever is in your line of sight depending on the ability used.
5) I was in a keep defence over the weekend. the red side stormed the gate and were overwhelming as most of our force was at another keep. We defended as best we could, but once the gate tumbled there were all over the place. BUT...the green side backdoored them and it resulted in 10 mins of the red team sandwiched between us, trying to take the keep and trying to defend against the greens. It was a glorious 3 way battle. I killed 2 reds, narrowly escaped a green by pushing him over the edge of the keep and still managed to escape to freedom. That right there bought back memories of Daoc insanity. So much fun.
6) GW2 had fully implemented night/day cycles and weather effects, and the the main human city i saw was just sooo big and had so many things going on in it. I was exploring the slums and there were 4 kids playing soldiers. Loads of little things that just made it.
Gw2 isn't stealing tera players, i have no idea why you're so agressive. I personally still believe opvp won't work without objectives but pve i'm sure it's a fine game if you dig the eastern style of graphics. I've played alot of ftp korean/chinese mmos and they all look like that character wise so it wasn't anything amazing to me. I'm more about immersive environments.

Oh yay! Another pissing contest!
TERA fans take the lead, it seems. Hahaha.
After letting GW2 fans take the lead so many time think about time we start some offensives =P
