It was like DAoC only better. I'd go into why but we all know why.

There were some parts of WvWvW that are not even done yet.  Things such as underwater siege equipment, the NPC races to aid players take a keep or new weapons, etc.

I dont know why so many are complaining about the cost to buy siege equipment.  It is really cheap actually considering the coin you get at higher levels.  Heck mining a few nodes gets you the coin to buy a ram.

What made DAoC great was the sense of community you felt - people fighting for their realm and not just their own personal character advancement or bragging rights. Obviously, GW2 PvP will have plenty of the latter, but in WvW, I do hope there's a sense of fighting for your world.

I didn't get to play it, sadly. Where can I find more info about the mechanics? I saw plenty of stuff about regular PvP, but not WvW.

At this point i think all developers need to do is give player A a wall to stand on and player B a wall to stand below and they will happily press 1 at each other for hours on end. Multiply the number of players and its so much more fun! Only with less individual responsibility.

    r.i.p. c!

Well of course people were fighting for their own personal advancement. It was a 3 day beta weekend and a lot of people spent their time levelling in WvW. Also Server communities & comadere simply won't form in a beta, where players have no investment in a character that will likely be wiped before the next beta event.

If you want to learn more about World v World then there's a tons of videos on it that you can watch. Here's a decent one. You can even check the "guild wars 2 wiki" on more in-depth info about the game. The info is all out there. You just need to make the effort to find it.

I'd get deeper into my feelings about it, but I doubt anyone gives a damn what I really think anyhow.

First GW2 beta event for the masses, yet a flock of headless chickens trying a game for the first time are expected to adhere to the same standard of siege warfare and the same display of tactical prowess prevalent in the days of DAOC?

Let Anet implement the remaining pieces to the WvW-puzzle and let the various servers battle it out for a while before we judge GW2 WvW.
