So I know we don't need another "Here is what I think about Tera" thread...but the servers are down for another 2 hours and I felt like sharing my experience.
When I frist tried the game during the last open beta, I have to admit I was drawn in by how fierce the characters were, but I really wasn't enjoying the combat. A huge part of that was because I'm HORRIBLE at FPS or TPS, oh mass effect, and it was really frustrating for me to get a handle on thinking differently in terms of movement. However, I pushed on and the controls just started to make sense. Not going to lie the game is pretty slow for the frist 20 lvls or so, but it really picks up when you start getting to fight BAMs and the dungeons!
Currently i'm a lvl 27 Sorc, and I am in love...I'm not one of those poeple who thinks this game changed everything...becuase lets be honest the combat and controls have been done before...Shout out to Dragon's Nest...but it's just a very fun package. That and the 2nd dungeon you encounter just brought back so many amazing memories of EQ's Mistmoore.
And I love that Tera does take the Ranged DPS formula and tosses it out the window, having to be up close and personal doging the attacks and teleporting around, nuking and running for you life is really a blast, I'm still getting used to it all...but it's fun.
There are a more than a few bad things to say about the game...the crafting is terrible and most of the time useless and the questing can be a little uninspired much like the story for the most part.
However, Tera has hooked me...and thank god cause if I had to run Dragon Soul one more time I don't know what I would do LoL
Also, no cast time on mounts is amazing
Sorry to ramble on, but i'm excited for what this game has in store it seems to just keep getting better and better as you progress
The level 35 dungeon looks insanely hard, so I can't wait to have a go at that!

crafting gets pretty beefy, you obviously have not got very deep yet of course only being level 27 but you will see...
+1 at higher levels you can craft gold items too.
Sure you can make gold items, but they are not really anything that is better or really on par to most dungeon drops...the one nice thing about crafted items is the extra crystal slot, but other than that it's so much hassle for very little pay off.
agree to disagree, in a stat driven game that one slot makes or breaks ya in competative tourny's...just saying bub.

on every piece of gear that adds up to like 10+ extra slots... considering you can wear two earrings, two rings, many adornments...all can be crafted... just saying... huge game changer bub.
This is what I assumed with the crystals (weapon/chest only) but I have not gotten to high level to see if other pieces started getting slots.
But I would disagree with 2 extra crystals slots not being "game changes". Given that a single offensive crystal can double your crit dmg in certain scenarios.

As a level 35 Sorc I can tell you, you will start to shine in SM. You've been on the weak side for awhile now, but starting to gain in power.
One thing I really love about the Sorc is you start to feel more powerful as you get higher in level. You start out weak and the game feels "slow" (as another poster put it)...Not sure if other classes play the same way, but its keeping me looking forward to lvl 60.
Edit: Spelling. Melted two sentences together and it did not go well at all...
I never understood why people feel sorc is so slow/weak to begin with...I've only played an archer and slayer as alts and sorc was just as powerful, if not more so than the archer, now the slayer is another story all together hehe
But I mean they certainly get crazy when you get fire blast, and then down right insane with BoC at 48!!
I feel pretty strong on my sorc at level 20. Problem is it's Elin, which is an advantage because elin are the fastest, but it's also disturbing to a degree with the whole panty showing preteen thing lol.
But yeah I can kill a bunch of mobs without being touched, and have the highest burst in the game I believe. That's pretty powerful.
Main thing is you have to move around a lot to take advantage of the class. Which for a mage is really refreshing and fun. I actually kind of feel more like I'm playing a WoW rogue when I'm playing my sorc, in that it's really fast paced, I'm squishy, but I can do tons of damage if I do things right.
The same crystal effects don't stack, but similar ones do. For example, you can stack savage (+0.84 crit multiplier on back attacks), acrimonious (+0.94 crit multiplier on boss back attacks), the one with +1.2 crit multipllier on enraged monsters, etc and get MASSIVE crits when you hit from the back.
Count me in as one of the ppl who are loving this game.
I'm playing a lancer and I have to say this game is such a nice change for someone who loves to tank. A tank in most MMOs is all about holding agro...nothing more really. Staying alive is almost 100% the job of the healers and how much health they can spam you with, with the exception of a few cool down skills to help mitigate some damage.
In tera it's all about the tank and the player behind the tank. The ballance between holding agro and taking little to no damage based on how well you can block is how a tank should be.
I'm only lvl 27 right now so I hope my little bubble doesn't burst at higher levels but so far it's a fun mmo.
