FFA pvp (with or without full loot).Graphics are not important to me so i would try even games like Salem but i am not interested in forced ffa pvp.If only some developers will make a decent sandbox with good crafting, item decay, huge world and optional pvp (or at least faction pvp) .....
I like the idea of sandboxes, i hate the implementation.
Most either have features that make you lose 95% of your time doing some sort of material grind, force you choose a very specific build in order to compete or are just kill'em games where numbers rule over everything.
Eve is awesome but has the 1st flaw, DF is interesting but has the 2nd flaw, Mortal 3rd flaw....
I do believe the issue is not the genre, but the implementations.
Pretty much my feeling.
You know when you're a kid, and trying to play a game with some friends, but the big kid from down the street has his friends over and they come by and beat the shit out of you and your friends until you all run home? That's PVP in "sandbox" games. You just can't let players be in charge of other people's gameplay experience. It didn't work in UO and it hasn't worked since. Sure some people like it, but some people liked to get sodomized in prisons after their first few months of being passed around.
If someone would make a quality one where other people are not allowed to totally fuck up your game play experience, I'd be willing to give it a go. There's a reason that people enjoy Chess, and cards, and monopoly. They have rules. No one just snatches the king from your board and says "I WIN"! I am looking forward to trying out that sci-fi one they're making with the Hero Engine, but I don't hold out too much hope for it.
Being a FFP PVP player myself I think that I should let you know that its been easy to safely have PVE sessions in every game that I have ever played unless it was a themepark with FFA PVP servers. Once you become familiar with open-world games especially you always find ways to avoid PVP when you don't want it. This has been true for me even while being in guilds so hated and outnumbered that people constantly online tried to camp me out of the game but in reality there were always ways to safely PVE despite this in every game that I have played besides AoC (because of only having one exit/entrance but even with that game it was easy to avoid PVP but it was one of the few that I became stuck because of people trying to camp me out of the game). There are ways to get out of it in every game and even more ways to avoid it. If its an open world and you cannot safely PVE than you probably just aren't very familiar with the game or perhaps you talk too much trash and whine in public so deserve it? : P

Quality suffer (indie devs?). Gameplay mechanics make them feel like work, not fun (games should = fun, leave work for real life). Full loot.
These are my reasons why i dont play Sandboxe mmo
Most people have already covered it, but most of them feel like having a second job.
