I'm glad I bought Tera.

I wasn't even interested until I played it in Open Beta.. but I also played Diablo 3 that weekend, so I only got to lvl 11.

I was sitting on the fence about buying it. I really liked it, but with GW2 and TSW are also coming out.. Diablo 3 was fun, but I was a little disapointed with how much it felt like WoW. I miss the stat allocation, and talent trees... and the dialogue felt like WoW.

Last Saturday night, I decided to go ahead and Pre-Order to get early access. It was an impulse buy, but I'm glad I bought it.

My Sorc is lvl 22 now, and is starting to feel bad ass.

I have 2 backward leaps (one snares anything directly in front of me), and a teleport.

I have another nuke that snares and peirces through all enemies in a straight line, multiples AOE's, and 2 spells that lock-on to multiple targets- one is a nuke the other is a CC.

People complain about invisible walls, but the world feels huge.

People complain about animation locks, but I feel just as mobile if not more than I did on a caster in WOW or EQ. Melee toons might find it more restricting, but that's a good thing. I haven't had a single warrior circle-strafe me spamming hamstrings and mortal strikes lol..

I did a dungeon, I did some BAMs, I did some pvp.

Tonight a group of 4+ reds kept trying to murder me, and I escaped them every time with all my crazy evasion skills. That was fun.

So that's my take on TERA. I'm having a blast, and I'm glad I bought it.

Same with me, and I was pretty much in the same frame of mind.  Tera didn't really appeal to me before I got into closed beta, as I had a lot of pre-conceived prejudices against it based on my experience with Korean grinders.  But I was fortunate enough to get a key to the CB5 and decided to check it out.  After an uninspiring start due to the lack of challenge of the starter island, I finally got my groove and really started enjoying myself in Arcadia.

I think the thing I was most impressed with, even moreso than the combat, was the world design.  It's absolutely breathtaking.  And after playing SWTOR, AoC, and EQII, it was nice to play in a massive, seamless, beautifully-rendered world again.  I'm at 32 on my Priest now and have just hit Mistmoor Island, and holy crap, is it breathtaking.  This is one of those games you actually just want to explore, and don't mind grinding mobs to learn their "tells" and use strategy to beat them.  This game is a real sleeper, and I think most people would really enjoy it if they give it a chance past the starter area.

Altough i am not playing it right now....i might do so in the future.

I also was in the open beta.....i didnt know what to expect either and loved every single thing about it.

That weekend i played more Tera then D3 and i am a longtime blizz fan so that says alot about this game.

Tera is one of the better games out there.

I just aint playing it because i got hooked on GW2 since Beta like soo many others.

It is weird how many people go into the game with preconceptions of it being bad and the hype level is so low, considering it's such a good and polished game with a brand new combat mechanic.

MMORPG players tend to think in a mob-mentality or something.  Everyone gets super hyped for one thing, and ignores everything else.  Right now the super hype is on GW2.  Before that it was SWTOR.  Before that Aion.  Before that Warhammer and before that AOC.

My priest is on Celestial Hills (PVE-RP), and my Archer is on Basilisk Crag (PvP).

Not bad, just a bit odd.  This game has no falling damage, but they do have some invisible walls on the edge of cliffs so you can't jump off and die (or not die).  Instead of making it so you can't actually climb a mountain top, they let you climb in, but then don't let you jump off the steep faces.  Nothing immersion breaking, really.  Just kind of odd.

I'm liking it, too.  Not something I expected to play, but I gave it another shot, and I ended up buying it.

I think you mean falling death. You can lose health on falling, just not die.

which as you say is odd because you can climb but sometimes they keep you from jumping. Even though you couldn't die from it.

The walls are in weird places. I've been able to cross between zones like from Freeholds to Basilisk Crag just by climbing the mountains.

But from Aurum Road to Colossal Ruins: nope, big lol-invisible-walls.
