suggestion of players on GW2 official forum are so great and any bug is mencioned on that forum. i was really impressed. BIG BIG expectation for next BW. if they correct everything people say on official forum i belive they lauch game in end June
nice to see arena net showing they actually care what we think which is more than i can say for most of the MMO's i have played where the dev's have little to no interaction with the community. Thanks for putting those quotes together from the devtracker OP
The sword of shannara was my first ever fantasy novel that I read for enjoyment (not school). It's what got me interested in fantasy, which of course led me to the king of all fantasy, the Silmarillion. Allanon is still one of my most favorite characters of all time.
That was how it happened to me as well. I read the Sword of Shannara about 20 years ago when I was a freshmen in high school. A good friend of mine recommended it to me after he had read it. Shortly after that I had to read the Hobbit for school. After that I was hopelessly addicted to fantasy. It's been nothing but fantasy books, pen and paper games, RPGs and MMOs since.
No, I build the character around the name. I'm backwards I guess. I take a name like Allanon for example from the Terrey Brooks Shannara series. He was tall, dark, and bearded. If I take the time to build him and the name is already taken, I have to start over again with a new name and character. I don't always build characters this way, but it is something I do.
Edit: for shannara spelling :O
I'm not sure if character names get reserved in GW2 like they did in GW1. In GW1, if you made a character and deleted it, that name was reserved for you for a certain period of time - can't remember the exact time frame, a good few hours anyway.
If it works the same way in GW2, you could essentially make a random character to reserve that name, then delete that character. That way the name should be reserved for you for a while. Then spend as long as you need to create the perfect character to match that name.
On topic: I'm very happy with the amount of community interaction I see from the developers. Everything from community managers answering all sorts of general questions on a daily basis on Twitter and Facebook, to the more in depth answers of developers on game mechanisms. It's always nice to get some insight into their reasoning behind various features.
Currently I am not really excited about the game or at least not that much, but I am really looking forward to see how much ANet has done with their game in only 1 month. Obviously not everything can be put into the game before release, but I think we'll see a lot of refinement.

I hope not many suggestions where about making game more easy and realy don't want that to happen.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

Communication is very important and it is great that the GW2 developers are being active in that front. FF XIV has good communication too and I hope "good communication" becomes a trend that is shared among all future MMORPGs.

It was about a 50/50 split. Some players thought melee was horrendously broken (weak) and others thought it was OP. You could usually see where the skill level was on the players too; melee is MUCH more punishing until you "get it".
That dev post on teh front page about knowing when to move, use CC, etc...OH GOD is it true. This isn't wow where you drop your stun asap and frontload as much pewpew on your target as you can. That will kill you. Careful positioning and timing are required..but once you understand a monster's attack patterns and how to deal with them...I won''t say it becomes EASY, but it's (bear with me here) like a game...It's fun to see how efficient you can be at being a killing machine and living.
The fiirst time I meleed three ettins by myself and lived as a Mesmer, I remember stopping, looking at my nearly empy health bar, and going "OMG what a rush!" We need more of that in MMOs, which is why I hope whatever changed Anet makes are minimal.
Yeah it's nice too see glad i got the game now, also the devs albeit they are a small team from Above and Beyond over at The Repopulation forums, are ever present and will answer questions or just general chit chat,it's very refreshing considering they hit Alpha in june i'm amazed they find the time !!
Yeah, I actually back and forthed with a few devs about the overflow/can't find your group problem. They weren't aware it was working the way it was until some of us provided detailed feedback, and their immediate response was "That's a bug". We had an official post with a (crappy) workaround and a promsie that they intended to fix it ASAP.

dont worry, will not gonna happen, many people reply to that topic with a big "NO" xD
some were complain that melee on boss fights were suicide, 1 shot kill almost the time and they were useless. than start to appear people saying that melee cant be always in melee range on bosses fights, that is the reason why all melee have ranged weapons too.
in boss people want melee bosses just need to be warning that they cant pick a spot behind boss and stay there forever, melee go there use some skills and go back to range, and so on. always moving. we will see what arenanet will do about this.
they will not gonna make game more easy in global that is for sure but they can do some tricks for melee boss fights because many was complain about this.
someone create a topic demand fly mounts and that topic was like 95% respond with NO, include me. really people who play beta need to go see oficial forum, sugestion and classes forum have so great things.
edit: sorry terrant, didnt see your post before create this. terrant explain that topic on official forum perfectly xD
It was nice to see devs responding to questions on the forums. I believe lack of communication can help kill a game. BW hardly communicated with general testers, and still don't communicate with their subscribers. Arrogance is helping kill their game.
