a couple of questions:
1. When I craft gear it will have different bonus that say something like +3 =150 hp, +4 = 5% increase dmg and so on. Does this mean I can increase the level of the gear and how do I do that?
2. How do I increase my extraction level?
3. I started out trying Alchelmy but it seemed to me to crazy expensive for Vendor mats compared to other professions (4.2 silver compared 0.48 silver for tailor mats). Just wondering if anyone else noticed this and does it even out later in game?

1. I don't think the game contains any of those kind of features. You do get short time buffs from gathering, which is really great. If you gather a few nodes on the way you find yourself with hp regen, run speed increase and stuff like that. I think it's one of those underapreciated features which also gives more meaning to gathering. Besides, to my knowledge there is no way to regen other than pots and bandages, but you can't craft bandages. Or you can just play a healer off course.
2. There is no extraction level. There is a limitation to what gear you can extract, and that limitation is in terms of the tier of the item. So to extract tier 4 items you need the proper skill. You can just buy them from the merchant and there is no requirement.
3. I gave up on crafting for now for that reason. It seems that you need to buy mats to do your crafting, so you don't only depend on the mats you can gather. And the mats you buy are pretty expensive. It may become easier on later levels, I don't know. Also something worth mentioning, keep all Dawnhide you can get. It's really a rare drop for the moment and you need them to level leatherworking to 50 in order to start craft items.
I believe he has created an attuned item which can then be enchanted, the enchanting process is what unlocks those additional stafs.
