D3 RMAH is not the first.

I was reading the posts about all the money in the RMAH and was thinking what fools people are to think they are going to make a lot of money out of it.

 

Back several years ago SOE made 3 servers where you could buy and sell items for real money. Initially the servers were jammed packed with players all selling stuff. Accounts were selling over 1000 bucks for characters and Items were so outrageously priced that only rich people would even buy, At the end of the first month prices started falling off because no one was selling anything. By the end of the year the server population had divided in half and many players that were on the exchange servers moved on to other games or other servers.

 

I don’t think the people realize that the drop rate for an item like Windforce will be around 0.005 % but even that rate means that there will be most likely 50 to 75 Windforce dropped every day all day and eery rare will drop at the same rate. Given that many will give them to their friends and ignore the AH means that in over all sales the WF will probably have a value of less than 10 bucks by the end of the first 2 months. Drop rate is statically applied here so the probability of making anything other than beer money is next to none as many on exchange servers found out.

 

If you plan to play this game and think you will make a lot of real money I suggest you do a reality check.

Yep. People keep saying that Chinese farmers are going to drive prices down, but I think it will be supply/demand as always.

Lots of players are going to take a stab at making a little extra money off this. The market will be flooded with items.
