Did I pick a bad world to play on?

FrostWyrmFrostWyrm Member Posts: 1,036

I decided to start my new character on Excalibur, and I'm not sure if there's just something up with this world, if players are just antisocial, or what. I can't seem to find a linkshell, or even so much as a party to save my life. I never even see people chatting at all either. Not even the typical newbies asking questions in shouts.

I've already spent WAY too much time crafting and gathering to start over on a new world. I'm already between levels 10 and 15 on all but 2 crafting/gathering professions (Lv. 7 Weaver, 4 Armorer), so I'm hoping SE does some server mergers or offers world transfers sometime soon.

I cant help but wonder, though...is every world like this?

This is the insanity of international servers, everyone sticks to their own language link shells, and its only through pure luck you can find one in game that had members that will acknowladge outside chat. Best use the offical forums or the guild ones here to find a linkshell on that server, or switch if you can find one.

Are you in Ul'dah? Gridania and Limsa usually have a lot less people running around and shouting. Besides that, really try your server forums : http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/365-Excalibur. There's usually a few social linkshells on each server you can get in to.

I started off in Limsa and spend most of my in-city time there. I've shouted in all three nations, but I haven't spent a whole lot of time in Ul'dah city. I usually only go there for gathering materials in the outlying areas. I'll check that forum link you mentioned when I'm able, though. Thanks.

Ul'dah is the central city located between the three, it is therefore where everyone socializes.  Limsa has no attractions to get people to gather there other than for crafting, certain quests, and the Maelstrom probably has some people in it at all times I'd guess like my server, but overall there is little reason to just hang out there.  Gridania at least has Louisoux (the primal NPC) so you'll see a steady stream of people going in and out of Gridania for that, but Limsa at the moment is more of a ghost town.

Thats too bad. I really like Limsa Lominsa. The city is dang beautiful, pretty easy to navigate, and...most importantly...its home to pirates! La Noscea also reminds me of LaTheine Plateau from FFXI, so its got a bit of the same feel leveling there at low levels.

I play on Excalibur and the population is great. People are right though, Uldah is the new Jeuno. Im on vacation atm but message me your char name, I have a lower level linkshell I can get you started in. Ffxiv is a great game, and its a good time to play because you will get to watch it evolve into an even better game over the next few months.
