As someone who hasnt done any research on this game and also didnt beta test it, im very impressed with it so far. I admit ive only played about 30 minutes or so and im still in the starting area but this game is pretty cool.
It was well worth the trip into the city and 50 bucks.
I only wanted to make this post because i almost didnt buy it from some negative things said here, and i can tell already im going to really like this game. I chose the big race, the nice looking one, starts with a B. Im sure i might regret this later but my guy looks awesome. I have chosen a priest because i want to heal other players and hopefully do it well.
It also seems to run very well and responsive like a AAA should. I know all games are very nice looking in the starter zone so i hope it says this nice.
Once again i havent played it much, im back on now for more. I just wanted to say if you have been bored for a long time like myself i think this game is pretty cool. And one last note, this game doesnt remind me of Aion at all (yet) which a lot of people seem to make comments that is a aion copy. Are you kidding me? I just have to disagree.
Hope you decide to give it a try and i chose the new server (reccommended pvp server) cant remember the name.

edit; ALso it installed quickly and account creation was nice and easy. That is a major imo. just wanted to add that.

However you will soon learn in MMO forums no one ever admits weakness or inexperience (notice all the threads will people prefacing them with their vast MMO experience.) So keep the fire extinguisher close!

Glad you're enjoying it OP. As a rule of thumb - Don't listen to negativity on this forum. If it were up to the trolls that frequent this website, no game would ever be purchased, anywhere.
If you're only on the Isle of Dawn and you've already made the observation that you enjoy the game and feel it was money well spent, than brother...you ain't seen nothin' yet. The Isle of Dawn is the weakest part of the game, comparatively speaking. Wait until you get into the open world. You're going to LOVE it. Anyway, congrats on finding a game you enjoy. I'm currently playing on a PvE and PvP server and loving both.
i agree, for most people lvl 1-20 was boring and they hate it but for people like you and me who liked the game from lvl 1 well it just get so much better as you get past 20 ^_^
I have to echo the sentiments of the other posters in this thread. The starting area is by far and away the weakest part of Tera. It's not the case of a crappy store with a beautiful storefront. Much moreso it is the other way around. You're in for a treat as you level. The main city is particularly impressive if you take the time to look up occasionally while you're in it.
First tried an archer, hated it.
Tried Warrior...
I got to lvl 16 as a Warrior and then re roll'd as an Archer and that helped me a lot in finding out how to play Archer better. I'd mastere'd the UI's features and quirks and understood how the game worked overall by then.
So man... Archer's skills in this game are extremely addictive to watch and use. Its an On-Your-Feet brain exercise to try to punch the skills at just the right time to not only look like a complete ass-whippin pimp, but also win the fight in a nearly flawless victory.
I've never liked an Asian game before, ever, never, not once.
I like TERA a lot. Though I have my complaints about it... for sure. (an extremely uninteresting enviroment/world being #1) I really am just enjoying the challenge of the figtht and the eye-candy that it provides.
Hope you (the OP) get further than 30 minutes into it. Figuring you'll like it even more if you do.
