Not like that means anything... at all? Not trying to be callous but what awesome range of new games is avaliable on Amazon digital? Can you think of any major recent PC releases that are on there also? Really it's bit pointless.
YEAH IT'S A POINTLESS FAILURE.
Just Kidding. No really though, it's a great little game that nobody exptected to blow the charts off like GW2 will when every WoW tween grabs that one off the shelf. Just a good sign that Tera is holding it's own and carving a little piece of the pie for itself.
I'm confused as to why people that play GW2 are "WoW tweens" and people that play TERA are not. If anything, I feel like the art in TERA is for hormonally charged tweens and little girls that like cute teddy bears.
Not that 30 year old men aren't going to be playing both. But certainly TERA and it's saturated pallette, flopping boobies and stuffed animal races does seem like it was meant for kids.
Whoa there big guy. Before you run around saying those are "my words" and shitting all over the context why don't you re-read them.
"when every WoW tween grabs that one off the shelf".
I didn't say you, your brother, or your mom was a WoW tween. I was just saying that millions of WoW tweens are going to drop that Warcraft franchise in a minute to grab a copy of GW2.
In the process it's going to sell what.... 20x, 30x, 100x what Tera sells?
That's all I was saying duuuuuude. I didn't say GW2 was meant for kids, but you said Tera was. Asshole.
lol
I said that about TERA because it seems like it is. And it looks like I misunderstood you when you said, "like GW2 will when every WoW tween grabs that one off the shelf. "
It looks to me like you're saying that alot of people that play WoW are tweens and that those tweens are the ones going to pick up GW2.
WoW is almost 8 years old now. I'll bet the average age is like 76 by now. So I really don't know where you're coming from anyway.
Not terribly impressive considering pretty much every single MMO hits that spot at launch. Its an MMO and the usual way people buy it is through downloads and Amazon is usually the first place people head to after the MMO's site and Gamestop. I want to see some actual sales though. I have a sneaking suspicion that they are not going to break 500k.
I read the title and OP and I thought "cool, wasn't expecting that. Congrats to TERA's teams for however long this lasts". Then I made a mistake. I started reading the comments. FFS party-poopers, what IS your problem? And if I started browsing their post history I would certainly find something in common between them.
I have to give a shout out to Eir. Her attitude change in the past weeks has been amazing. Thank you. Why are some folk missing the big picture? /frustrating
It really is a great game and deserves it success. If only it didn't have the ping issues due to the non queuing action combat that makes it really hard to play from Aus.

RelytDnegel, if you're willing to try anything then give Battleping a try. It seems to support TERA. There's a trial and everything.

Just in case it wasn't already mentioned, it was meant for a Korean audience (even though the developers clearly stated it was built as a "Western Style" mmorpg, the art direction is very much Korean) regardless of age groups.

Even with battleping or smoothping I still get at least 150ms which is still around 20 - 25% attack speed reduction compared to someone living in the US. That is a lot of DPS especially cause the archer was my favorite class. People say its not much or negligible but I'm a very competitive gamer and I know that it would really get to me knowing that I'm going to be at a disadvantage no matter how much time I put in. But thanks for the suggestion!

mmoprgs are an adult passtime, anyone that says otherwise is not aware of the demographics (average gamer age is 34).
Both games are meant primarily for adults. They have different draws of course. One has a more adult theme and demands an old style approach to mmorpgs, the other is more casual friendly and thus catters better to those of us that time is limited.
There are a few mmorpgs that are meant primarily for kids, but those are easily recognisable both by style and gameplay.
The only idiocy is Frogster's insistence for PEGI 12 in Europe and how that will negatively impact the game long term.
i wonder why everyone thinks gw2 is gonna be some great pvp game if the arenanet people are ex blizzard.cuz everyone knows blizzard is terrible at pvp in mmos.look at wow
Idk why anyone think a buttom mashing game woudl be great pvp game. From all I seen from the beta everything is so messy that even in a 5v5.... ONLY 5v5!!! and you are already just pressing tab and pressing all your skill asap. Wtf is going to happen in the over hyped WvWvW when you have over 100 people? can you even see anything at that point? could your screen even load?
You know, I started reading the thread and was just about to write congrats Tera. Then I got to this. I'd like to direct you to a total biscuit video or any video and please look up my thread "GW2, The E-sport..." There is a whole page long post that directly refutes these claims that are based in ignorance. I mean ignorance as in the bases of the word 'unknowing', not calling you stupid.
I am a pretty competitive player and have been in E-sports for quite some time. Anet departed from blizzard because they felt limited by them. In essence they were so DIFFERENT from blizzard they decided to break away and be a completely different entity.
The game is far from button mashing. If that's what your doing in PvP, your dying. I couldn't have said it better than totalbiscuit himself when he said that those claims are "bullshit". If you run into a fight and are randomly throwing your crits around without timing, dodging with no purpose, and not using abilities correctly then you are dying. Especially in PvP. Its 5 v 5 because Anet has an annual tourny set up for players whome are flown out of state/country for a 250k cash prize.
it is far more expensive to send more than 10 people on, essentially, a vacation. Not only that but the 5 people to a team gives importance to every player. Keeps things from devolving into exactly what you have said. You can try to button mash, I'm sure many will. I find it curious that those people then claim the game is too hard. All you've managed to do by button mashing as a thief is flail around, waste initiative, and limit yourself to basically one attack. All classes play in this manner.
As far as WvWvW you can go ahead and look at the battle of the bay featuring Team Legacy versus Reddit. There's enough said there to fill forty pages.
All of your skills do drastically different things. If you are just randomly firing out nets and cripples and randomly flailing around you instantly lose. I will just roll backwards a few times. Wait for you to finish flailing around so your either out of initiative or all abilities are on cooldown and proceed to pummel you. That's not even an exageration. I actually did that to people who would try to flail. They'd see me, panic, use all of their skills in horrible places (aka: using heartseeker as a thief when your already in close and the enemy has full health. The skill does more damage the less health and is a leaping skill. Flying lotus causes bleeding but you must use it perfectly in PvP. Cloak and dagger must be used while in close and has a huge initiative cost). There is zero button mashing in this game. If that's what you were doing, you were losing.
Like moths to a flame. Everyone hops on the new shiny. In a month or two everyone will be here hating on Tera just like they did with TOR.
Tera pretty much opposite of TOR, we been recieving the shit storm for month before beta and during beta. It was only after release did we gain any support.

So any game company decide to hold a tourny automaticly make the gam ea E-Sport? Alright lets get Nexon to host a maplestory tourny and it will be the next E-Sport.

I don't need to read theoritcaly debate about WvWvW or any other feature. every thing sounds good on paper works out differently in game. and from the Beta the fact remains that in battle the game is a clusterfuck. Just from 5v5s there so many flashy skill been through around its hard to seen half the enemy.

so does every other mmorpg your skill do drastically different thing, whats the point of having diferent skill if they don't? What you describled is pretty much most mmorpg out there, doesn't stop the fact GW2 is target based which kills off any chance in my book of it been consider a E-Sport when most of your skill homs.
Not that I disagree with you that Tera is a very fun game so far, but you said "correct me if I'm wrong" and you are, but in sentiment only. The Arenanet guys are from Blizzard but they are not part of the highly touted Blizzard North group that are often referred to in the manner which you're using. These guys aren't cut from that same cloth. They just happened to be employed by Blizzard for a while.

GW2 is the new WoW as far as forums go. Anywhere you go, you get unrelated and irrelevant GW2 discussions injected. It's long past the point of being annoying.

Jesus, no kidding. This is why we can't have nice things, people!
Sorry to butt in on the festivities, it's great that Tera is reaching its market, but this thread is hardly indicative of the only GW2 vs. Tera arguing going on. Just look at the Amazon reviews, nearly every one of them I read mentions GW2. As far as I'm concerned the only comparable part of either game is the combat, but apparently they are at "war" with one another outside of MMORPG.com too, so you can't go blaming GW2 fans for everything.

Because they have a pair of glasses that make it so you only see GW2 over everything else =D

Grrr, that's not what this topic is about!
There's already a ginormous thread where you can talk about such things in detail:

Take it there, you two, thanks.

I've literally been telling people for over 6 months that this game is good, but nobody believed me.
Now I get to relax in my "I told you so" comforter while drinking a fresh cup of GW2 fanboy tears.
You guys better sub to this game before all the promotional goodies run out.
This thread turned into a crappy thread about the failgame GW2 quickly o.O
opps sorry =X was kind ain rage mode last night for some reason XD
Good for En Masse.
I'm impressed how you guys manage to change every thread topic on Tera board into a Tera vs GW2 war. Lovely.

^^Well, all that proves is that GW2 fans post on Amazon as well.
lol They were fans of Tera comparing it to GW2 is what I meant. If you meant me, I don't post on Amazon.
