Like i said you are tryiing to hard for people to see only negatives.

By the way i have been going through official forums whole morning, not like you just introduced me to it through your link.

Regardless of the state of the recently revealed game or its ability to stand on it's own as an MMO, the development team has departed significantly from the features that characterized previous Elder Scrolls games and has resulted in a backlash from the fan base.

With the leak of some detailed information on game play, many have begun to wonder if the title of Elder Scrolls Online should be replaced with something more fitting a traditional MMO "Based upon the lore of the Elder Scrolls Series".

At a time when most MMO's benifit from exciting announcments, ESO is already being heralded as a falure for lack of vision. This appears to be the most negatively received "reveal" in the history of the modern MMORPG.

...and you're basing that on the responses from the boards on this website?  No surprise there, knowing that many of the lurkers here are devoted to sandbox / action games.  I don't see much if any negativity on other websites in regards to the release, with exception to MMORPG.com as usual.

Maybe you should actually check another site or two.

    Or even the official forums:

    http://forums.bethsoft.com/forum/190-elder-scrolls-online-general-discussion/

I see like 3 to 4 negative topics, rest are people complaining about others complaining (no surprise there) other then that there are actually quite good  topics on front page where people are having civil discussion. Guess you just focus on negative too much and fail to see the rest?

If you take the time to actually read the threads, you will get a good sense of the community's reaction.  Your post was made to be argumentitive, but you didn't take the time to back it up.  Are you just looking for way to up your post count?

I am not looking for just post count but what makes you so sure that i have not been browsing official forums for quite a long time now? you think you just introduced me to the forums? so your 'you spent less then 3 minutes' counter argument is pure nonsense.

Maybe i should wait and take screenshot when most of topics on front page are positive ones to make a point?

The trailer sucked... there was no "reveal' of even a second of gameplay! Bleh.

well that's what happens when you take one of the most iconic and loved open ended, immersive, first person rpg and turn it into just one more of the 10000s theme park WoW clones that already litter the mmo world.

it completely boggles my mind that those making the decisions on the development team are so incredibly out of touch with gamers that they actually believed this would be received enthusiastically.

it is nothing but laziness and cowardness. nobody wants to risk with innovation anymore, everyone to just wants to make cheap knockoffs of what was popular 5 years ago.

NOBODY WANTS ONE MORE WOW EFFING CLONE, WE WANT A SKYRIM MMO FFS. we want something that plays and feels exactly like TES but has other players in the world.

PS: Star Vault took the gameplay of TES and the sandbox mechanics of UO and tried to put them together, and they did it with almost no talent, no money, no experience. they had no friken clue how to make an mmo, and yet to date Mortal (in all it's crappynes) is the only game that even comes close to resembling a true TES mmo. how is it possible that gigantic studios like Bathesda and Zenimax wont even try it? how incredibly pathetic is that? it makes me sick just how cowardly and visionless this industry as become.

What? Do you not understand many just want to see what the actual game looks like (the whole game) before stating yay or nay?

It was a pretty bad article. I think allot of people just gasped and said WTF when the article was read.

Maybe the company that Bethesda is a part of would want to rethink how to create an MMO with the Elder Scrolls name so that the mmo is more in line with the Bethesda games.

You eat a lot of shit looking for candy? Not me. I don't just dive onto terds mouth first hoping that it's candy. Thanks for proving that the mass market are mindless consumers though.

Maybe I just have the ability to sum things up. I hope you're right, but all signs point to this being a WoW clone. Especially when the developers use the word WoW to desribe it. You can put on a blindfold and clip your nose all you want, but if you eat a terd you'll still have that bad taste in your mouth.

WOW has PVE based on exploration, three way PVP, player lordships, lack of trinity, etc... ? Maybe I actually should give WOW a go... I've been missing a lot it seems.

Odd way to sum things up.

What did you say? Tab targeting, Class system, "Comfortable for MMO players"?  You can hype up the BS all you want, but it won't change the fact that this is an obvious cash grab, with no innovation. Without the TES label this would be another TIRED fantasy MMO.

Yes all features WOW brought to the table. Now we're changing the goal posts, as it's about innovation now?

One thing i cant get out of my head. Its not like TES series are some unknown, niche game that nobody knows about. For gods sake they have millions of followers, and if they made their game somewhat similar to other TES games, they would still have those millions + new people trying the game. But instead, they decided to go 1on1 with WoW and make it more wowlike, because thats... what other devs do. While in the process they are pretty much ignoring all those millions of people who like TES for what it is.

Regardless how you look at it, its a bit weird... if some game that 30 people know about decided to make a mmo, fine they cant risk much, and going the wow-route is the safest way to go. But they have millions of people playing TES because its that special, different and sandbodxy, and here we are, with those devs working on its online version, where only similarities with other TES games is in its name.

I just wish TESO was more of... itself, and less of a WoW.

tldr: I can understand indie devs being scared of developing a sandbox, because that one is much harder to make, and its more risky. Heck i can even understand some bigger publishers wanting their games to be a lot like wow, because thats what makes money, well, most of the time.

But when you have one (well, a few) sandbox games that have millions and millions of players, and they all like it for what it is, why on earth would you make its online version THAT different to all other TES games? :/

The TESO devs fully acknowledged they expected to receive heavy criticism after the announcement, and that they will continue to until the game is released.  Only then will the game speak for itself.  Only then can the criticism can be quelled or justified.

Unfortunately, I believe people have a tendency to find what they expect to find.  If players try the game expecting to see failure upon failure, very few people will be able to escape those expectations no matter how good the game actually is.  Some of the more open-minded, rational players will, but not everyone.  It's kind of sad.

its funny most indie mmo devs are making Sandbox games. Just google, Dawn tide, Embers of Caerus, Mortal Online, Darkfall, and Life is Feudal.

Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships
    Waiting on: Ashes of Creation
