If 14% of TES sales are PC, and the MMO releases only for PC, I'd like to know exactly why it would be a good idea to cater to the 86% they already left behind instead of the 14% of guaranteed sales?
Unless of course they make the MMO available on consoles, then sure go ahead and appeal to... whoever.
I can only say that as a TES PC customer I wouldn't buy this MMO if it was just like all the others but with the TES skin. Like I said previously, they are not swigning giant Mario dicks, general masses don't know shit about TES. No need to appeal to them, they already have WoW, unless they think Blizz fans will jump ship?
O well, who knows. Next drink of crown royal should have me visiting my ancestors anyway.
Maybe because there has yet to be a successful MMO in the console market? Console gamers are notoriously cheap and cannot stand the idea of a subscription not only required with the console maker, but also added to the sub for the MMO itself.
I know there are a lot of posts talking about how this game is a WoW clone or what not, and you're probably thinking...not another one! But hear me out...I think there is a very specific reason why this game is just a bad idea.
First off, think about the Elder Scrolls games...what makes them special?
Is it the IP? Is Tamriel a beloved world that people hoard collectibles about and dream of at night like Star Wars or LOTR? No...I don't think so. It's got a lot of lore for sure, but I don't think the Tamriel IP is anywhere close to the popularity of Star Wars or even Azeroth.
Is it the addicting progression mechanics? No...not really. You can get to "max level" in an Elder Scrolls game fairly quickly. People are definitely not playing these games because they are addicted to a grind.
...So then what is it that makes these games so special?
I'll tell you. It's the excellent open-ended gameplay.
People love these games because they allow you to explore an awesome, detailed world and really just pick whatever path you wish to follow. But that's not all...part of what makes these games so excellent is the fact that the SAME CORE DEV TEAM has worked on Morrowwind, Oblivion, and Skyrim.
Now let's look at TES:Online.
This game is NOT developed by the team that made the previous Elder Scrolls games, and from all indications it will NOT have that open-ended gameplay that people have come to associate with TES.
So all it's left with is the brand and the IP. And I'm sorry, that's not what makes Elder Scrolls special. No one has a mint edition Emperor Whateverimus figure in their basement. No, they have a vintage Han Solo figure or even freaking Hello Kitty.
The TES IP is just not popular enough to base everything on and frankly, I think that's what they are doing. They are just trying to make a "traditional MMO" set in Tamriel.
Good luck with that.
They won't get my money if its just stick a TES name on game but its a themepark clone. And im not kidding here ive over last 8 years only bought 2 mmo's Darkfall and now GW2 becouse im not pleased at all with whats flooding the market over past 8years.
Darkfall becouse im a free for all fan and sinds 2003 register on there forum im following that game and finally in 2009 i could play it after 2+years i quit becouse of empty servers. Guild wars 2 becouse its so different from most mmo's and innovative i give it change to proof it self so far beta weekend was awesome.
But all those years in between i was very dissapointed with most mmo's comming to market.
Luckly i had my solo RPG'S and games like Vampier masqurade and Bioshock.
For me Elder Scrolls mmo need same looks as Skyrim, same open world, FPS and total freedom plus non instance dungeons, skill tree ala morrowind and dragons.
And becouse Elder Scroll have also bandits or factions that can attack you when they see you somewhere on the raod it must have FREE FOR ALL OPEN PVP WORLD server also.

This is purely my opinion on how i see it majority of games where just not for me.
And becouse im now fan of Guild wars 2 don't automatically means i think everything else is crap. Im even a bigger fan of Elder Scrolls solo games then GW2 but im very sceptical of the upcomming TESO MMO.
Oh and forgot to mention im even alot longer fan of Darkfall from 2003 up 2011 then any other MMO so no im not realy a GW2 fan im very intrested now in the game becouse its so different from bulk of other mmo's right now and beta have proof me i did right choice buying that game.
