If you think being able to sell gold for gems on the AH is going to get rid of gold sellers you should really look at examples of other F2P games that allow just this.  It reduces gold sellers, but not removes them.  They'll just have to severely undercut the market.

Well to be honest I'd like to see just how gold sellers and buyers make out when they compete directly against Anets cash shop

...you may be right but I bet they get cracked with a big stick !!

It will not remove gold sellers but its a step forward compared with others mmo

Anyone notice the transmutation stones weren't in the shop anymore? Bag slots, bank space slots, perfect salvages and even the costumes in the shop have value.

Fact. Buying an in game currency with real world money was cheating in almost every MMORPG and Online game before this.

Fact. Arenanet has become the RMT themselves.

Fact. Cheating via buying in game currency has not been removed by the gem system.

How hard is this to understand?

Fact: You have more gold than me. Aweosme. what are you going to do with it? Get better gear? Oh wait this isn't wow. The difference in power between tiers of gear is FAR less exponential than in most MMOs.

Fact: You can buy plans for siege gear with gold...wait gotta have the supply too.

No, I'm not belittling the fact you think RMT is wrong.

RMT was considerd wrong for two reasons

    1) People that used it were often able to use their heaps of gold to sit like lords over everyone else due to having the best gear, etc.

    2) Some feel that being able to fasttrack your way to piled of gold with rl money cheapens the achievement of everyone that "earned" said gold in game the old fashioned way.

My comment for point 1) is that the benefits of mountains of gold just are not that high as in other MMOs. It's not going to be as unfair. And regarding point 2)...well only so much I can say to that. If you feel other people's actions cheapen your own achievement, that's your choice. Now, I'm with you, I intend to earn my gold in game. If I use gems for ANYTHING (and I will probably buy them with gold FYI), it will be bag/character slots. But I don't feel it harms my enjoyment of the game.

Gold will matter in this game it has to as it's a form of progression in it's own right.  If you are not seeing how it's going to be important yet its because Beta has put artifical contraints on the market (like betas always do) doesn't mean it won't matter.  The Gem to Gold market will be healthy and will be a significant form of income for ANET.  If you don't have a issue with the developer getting such a large part of it's profits from RMT thats ok but some of us don't like the way that changes priorities.

How exactly does it change priorities?  If anything, it's even MORE important to keep the players happy.  After all....who's going to be buying this stuff?  Certainly not people who aren't playing the game.....

If there's in-game trading this really doesn't mean much. If the cap is too low players will just handle it through private trade. In turn you will hardly ever see Gems up on the market. Seen this sort of thing happen quite a few times.

Which players is Anet more interested in keeping happy?  The ones that use the Gem store or the ones who don't?  If I was Anet I know which ones I would be more interested in keeping happy since I already got the box purchase out of the ones that don't like to use it.

there will be no gold sellers in this game they whould not beable to make any money on it.

1st: is the cash shop itself. it has no items to give players an uperhand over other players  like other cash shops do where these items can sell in game for milloins of gold.  so no market for the gold sellers here.

2nd: every thing you can buy with gold you can also buy with Karma and Karma can not be sold or traded to other players> again no market for the gold sellers

3rd: there is no direct trade with players. you can not click on some one and open trade with that players it has to be done with the AH or the mail system. as the gold sellers will not beable to use the AH they will have to use the mail system witch can be tracked more easy the direct trade. again no market for gold sellers.

4th: this is not a Free To Play(F2P) Game it is a Buy To Play Free(B2PF) Game. unlike F2P where the gold seller can just create a new account if they get baned with GW2 they will have to go buy the game again. again no market for the gold sellers.

I would like to know where biggarfoot got the idea that there is a cap on prices.  There was artifical supply in beta because it's beta but when the game launches it's going to be strickly supply and demand market with players suppling 100% of the Gems and Anet making money everytime someone buys something on the Gem store regradless of if you buy with cash or gold.

Ground breaking news, perhaps you could enlighten us as to why we all managed to miss such crucial information. I'm guessing this post was aimed at shop haters? Yeah, stop giving a fuck about them dude. Haters don't care for logic, everyone that needs to know this info already does.
