I never thoght I'd see myself posting in the LFGame section again, but I have a friend who is very casually interested in MMOs and he gets very upset if I get ahead of him level-wise in the MMO we're currently playing. That was when it dawned on me that perhaps we'd benefit from a game that has a side-kick/mentor/level synching option.
I know that both Champions Online and Guild Wars 2 have this feature in some capacity, and I heard that FFXI does, although I think the latter is a bit too time consuming for this guy, as he likes to play in short bursts. If anyone can name other games I might have overlooked that include a similar feature, it would be much appreciated.
EDIT:
All right, after doing a little research of my own (and thanks the poster below), I'm adding CoH, EQ2, Allods, and SUN to my list. If anyone can come up with any others, let me know. Also, I haven't touched STO since a few weeks after it launched, but my friend does like Star Trek, so if anyone has any recent experience with that game, does it have a mentoring system of any sort? I'm researching it now myself, but I'm having trouble finding information on it.

City of Heroes.
Sidekicking works very well, and the game is good for short bursts.
Guildwars 2 will have scaling as far as I know as well but that's not out yet.
Vanguard Saga of heros has what you are after
QFE, there are several games with that mechanic listed in the thread but CoH is the only one I know of that's good in small chunks of time. While Vanguard (which I currently play) and EQ2 also have that function, I wouldn't bother logging in for less than an hour at a time.
COH may not be brand new, but in my opinion, is one of the most underated games.
I still play COH despite my interest in newer games like Tera and GW2.
