First off im only 14 but i've played MMORPGS forever. i started off with AC and moved on to bigger and badder ones. I hated WoW because it just wasnt.. for lack of better words good. I almost bought the game but my friends said "WoW will be so much better, just wait till it comes out." wrong.
I really like to feel powerfull, but not start out as a god.
The combat has to be fun to look at.
Are people friendly to noobs or are they shouting STFU NUB?
Is it really hard to get into the game or is there a really good tutorial?
Are there quests i can actually do for levels or do i have to go camp spiders at level 1 till level 8?
Thanks for all the CONSTRUCTIVE POSTS. I dont want this to turn into a flame war, just answer my questions, and dont start fighting each other. Please.

EQ2 has some really great combat animations, I think. Spell animations are quite good, as are melee actions. Overall this is one of the strong points of the game.
It's not like that at all, in my experience. The community is very good.
There is a tutorial (it's controversial because many of the hardcore are against the concept of a tutorial) which teaches you the basics of the game, and then you start on the "Isle of Refuge" where you have a chance to level a bit against easier monsters while you are getting a hang of the interface and the gameplay style. There is also a crafting tutorial on the island. Having said that, there is a learning curve with the game, especially on the crafting side of things.
No, it's very quest driven. You can camp and grind as well if you wish, but there isn't any need to. The bigger issue is that some of the quests (and more of them as you get higher in level) and access to some of the content requires groups. [/quote]
You can sign up for Fileplanet (for the free membership), and download and try out a trial of EQ2 for free for one year. You only get access to the first 6 levels, some crafting, and the newbie island, but many of your questions will be answered there.
I find I am pretty much questing all the way through, with no XPing, through level 26 on my Necro now and previously through level 25 on my Templar, who I got bored with. Loving the necro, but the 20s is hard because you don't get real necro stuff till 30 really. But anyway.
Check out the trial and see what you think. The only way to know for sure about it is to try it yourself. Some people love it. Some not so much.
I'm on Najena and I find people to be pretty helpful overall.
