To begin, let me say I enjoyed the game despite it's cartoon style graphics. To me gameplay > graphics. I enjoyed the first 25 or so levels I enjoyed the pvp action in the open world ( pvp server ) BUT around levle 27-29 the story line questing is not soloable.
A common response is why play an MMO if you dont want to group. I shouldn't have to.
In short , to level, you need to do quests. To do the best xp quests you need a full group.
I have not logged in since ...

In all fairness it probably wouldn't be that bad if they didn't treat everything before level cap as nothing but a means to an end.
With the focus on endgame it's hard to care about the main game, most simply want to get it over with so they can get to endgame and THEN group up, do dungeons, raids, BAM's, PvP, etc.
its getting hot in here- i feel flames a coming- good luck
i played for 45 minutes in beta an knew it wasnt for me- lotts of things i didnt like an not enough things i did like to keep me longer than that
Tera in its crazy anime skimpy perfert way is a highly social game, lonewolfs simply wont make it, pvp is compleetly useless as a soloplayer (since its team/guild based)
game simply aint for the solo player,im sure theres other games more fitting for youre play style.
This is perfect for me ^^
Finally a game you need to socialize in too many MMO's can be solo'd nowadays.
Go back to playing Skyrim or some other single player RPG if you can't handle having to talk to other human beings.
you know you don't have to do the storyline in the dungeons.... you can just skip them and once your lvled you get the story line for the next area and you move on.....
Well good for you there,i personally enjoy soloing, and don't like being told where to go,some people play differently, why do you have to make a comment like that.
You like to play in groups, good for you man. Enjoy.
You shouldn't have to?
Why?
I'm mostly a solo player. I enjoy grouping, especially with guildies but I usually solo. And I recgnize that these games shouldn't always revolve around me.
What do I do? I either get a group or wait until I can solo the parts I need. Or I do without.
I say it's ok for games to have content that require groups. As long as I can "somehow" get to cap I think it's all ok.
You can also enter these dungeons at a higher level than the quests require if you want to do the quests for continuity.
I've done most of the main group quests by either being asked to join a group or going in higher than usual. I soloed bastion of Lok. Not saying that makes me a badass. It doesn't . But it does mean that I recognize the challenges of being a soloer and I make due.
Heck, I had a quest where I had to go back solo 6 times in order to complete it. Why? Because it clearly required at least a duo, it was difficult and I knew that eventually I could do it. And I did.
If one wants to solo this game, even the main quests one can get them done. At least from what I've seen so far. That's the beauty of this game. AT the moment I'm 45, mostly solo.

Stop the presses, a mmorpg gives the most xps quests to group quests - shocking.
When did this become not the way mmorpg's play ?
And you dont have to group , you can easily skip those as soon as you hit a certain level it auto unlocks the next series of quests for your storyline. You can go back and do it or not , as you can easily buy better gear off the broker than you get from those to begin with.
QFT. The only storyline quests that you can't solo are the ones for dungeons. I'm assuming the OP got stuck on the quests for Sinestral Manor. It does seem like they run out as the storyline quests are specific to you going into there. However, you can still skip them and pick up the next set of soloable story quests once you are the appropriate level. Just do side quests until you get there.
Go back to playing single players where you belong ^-^
Good to have someone like you away from the game bai
you're both fools who need to learn different people like different things.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
wow, you guys are right, somehow this game has much more socialization than other current mmorpgs on the market. I dont actually know why. Maybe because thats really the alternative thing you can do in the game other than grinding the same mobs over and over again lol. it is interesting though. When i played the gw2 beta there was barely any talking at all. Perhaps its the availability of area chat?
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)
Well, I'd rather have a "I quit" post because a storyline ended in a party dungeon than the game sucks.
OP hope you find a game that you like but I doubt you're going to find many people that find it a bad thing to have party involvement in the storyline quests. These are MMORPGs after all.
^^ This guy is a good example why games now days are stupid easy.
By the way OP you can level to max in any mmorpg solo no matter how hard it is but like everything in life requires patience and quiters don't have that trait.
Good man, you are on the righteous pass to salvation.
Well at least its a legit reason to quit a game -.- compare to all the other crap people says.
This game feels more old school (at the moment) than many current games. It's because of this that players seek other players out in order to get their objectives done.
The quests for the most part seem horrible but quite frankly I was never a beliver in "thousands of quests". A few are fine. The rest of the time players should be finding things they want to do.
Since this is a them park game "lite" players can pvp, socialize , group together to take down bams, etc.
The problem with your statement "grind mobs over and over" is that you don't really see the forest from the trees. Just like in Lineage 2 when the only way you did level was to kill mobs (no "questing" in the form that contemporary games take) the game was never "about" grinding mobs. It was about player interaction. The mobs, bosses, crafting, were just catalysts to get players to interact.

I don't know what the OP is referring to. I played a Sorc to max level and only grouped when I saw people asking for others for BAM quests. EVERY single story line quest was soloable, because En Masse made it that way (it wasn't in KTera).
you like rpgs, good for you. the games on this site are mainly MMO rpgs. the massively multiplayer part = grouping, deal with it.
There is nothing wrong with an MMO requiring grouping past a certain level, for those who are fine with forced grouping. If a game does basically force grouping, however, then that fact should be widely circulated to prevent people who don't care for forced grouping from wasting their time and money on the game.
No one need question what people like from an MMO, everyone is different. There shouldn't be any problem with people sharing a gripe that is a.)accurate and b.) may be of significant importance to some players looking into the game.
I'm glad I got bored with the game after the second beta weekend and canceled my pre-order. I didn't know there was forced grouping and I would have been ticked off if I had bought it, only to find out later.
I never really saw any mention of the game forcing grouping before endgame in the pros/cons pre-release. This is one of those things that can be a pro or a con, depending on one's tastes, but everyone has a right to know that the game does have a lot of content that is difficult, or even impossible, to solo.
Now, if someone has found that certain classes and determined play can allow someone to solo, that's valid information as well. Maybe some people are fine with having to really work at soloing, as long as it's possible. However, most MMOs today are solo friendly and I don't see how any one would be shocked that many people do indeed expect an MMO to be solo friendly. That doesn't mean a game can't reward grouping, or that someone who likes to be able to solo doesn't also sometimes enjoy grouping.
There are things to like about TERA and things not to like. Whether one finds it a positive or a negative, it is useful to know before buying the game that most content beyond a certain point is designed to require a group, or at least a duo. The game is better served if people who start playing it know what they are in for. Fewer people dropping from friends lists and guild rosters when people who buy the game really uderstand what they are getting.

There is no forced grouping...BUT you DO need a group for group content, crazy, eh?
Also, there are group quests well before storyline group quests.
On a side note, I happen to agree with the OP in the case of story quests because sometimes you cannot advance to the next story quest unless you complete the prior. I have had no problem completing them, but the grouping mechanims in the game are...meh. I like grouping, but how long it takes to get a group is really starting to wear thin on me.
Why create a group oriented game and not create a better toolset for said grouping functions?
I don't understand. So u play mmo (massively multiplayer online) game, but u don't want to group? So maybe, you should just consider playing single-palyer games like Diablo or Skyrim, and give up mmos. Usually ppl play mmos to play in groups, rather than to play solo.
I'm confused...
I'm not a member of any guild, group, or have any friends... I've completed the story up till my current level (56 It hink) and i've done a number of the group quests every so often.
I've almost completely solo'd 1-56 in Tera.
Yes, some no-required things require grouping.. so? ITS A MULTIPLAYER GAME... [mod edit]
Tried SWTOR?
Diablow 3, it sucks ...
To the OP: there are enough quests you can do solo to where you don't need to do the story quests that require a group. Tho if you were searching for an excuse to stop playing the game I guess that will do.
