GW2 Stress Test May 14th.

"At the same time, we’re also working on server capacity to make sure that we’re prepared for the even greater flood of players who will participate in the next Beta. To that end, we’ve announced a Stress Test on Monday May 14th to test some changes we’ve implemented. This 7-hour test event, which runs from 11 AM to 6 PM PDT (-7 GMT) is open to all players who have pre-purchased Guild Wars 2. The good news is that we’re not wiping characters for this test; we’re using the same build that we used in the first Beta Weekend Event, so you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off."

Alright, so when I read this I can admit to emptying several bottles of lotion with the intense fapping that, no doubt, followed that announcement. And then I read the part highlighted in red ... So I felt that a post on the good 'ol MMORPG.com forums was absolutely necessary!

But seriously I think now is a good time to lay down some warnings and mentally prepare the masses. This is a stress test not a full-blown beta test. Sure you will be able to log in and play the game for a duration, but it is NOT a beta. With that said I think EVERYONE should expect rampant disconnections, login issues, server lag, and other server-side problems. Why, you might ask? Because, as I've said already and as their announcement clearly states, it's a stress test. The only reason I'm making this thread is because I can already see the "Freaking can't log in!!!!" and "GW2 lag = bad game" or "Not gonna play on release cus of lag" threads popping up like popcorn.

It would be a shame to see misinformation lead to more misinformed opinions(more than the ones that already exist).

Now with that said...Let's try to have fun with our 7 hour event. It's a chance to get into the world of tyria again, which i know most of us have been itching to do! I, personally, haven't been able to log into any other MMO's since the close of the first BWE. So this chance is both exciting and refreshing. On top of that we can just pick up from where we left off and won't have to waste time leveling up again. Which is great! We'll all be able to log in and experience new content that we didn't get a chance to see the first go 'round. Unless ofcourse you want to start over.

But in all seriousness...Log in, have fun, and use a towel! See you on the 14th!

-Cheers

The last stress test was terrible for the first 3-4 hours.. and was offline most of the time. After that it was smooth. They did extend it tho because of the downtime.

Anyone looking forward to this, have a backup plan for something to do... seriously.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

New client versions should not have any impact on any existing characters. Any changes to animations/stats/skills will be automatically applied to existing characters. Doubt they will wipe the characters before release.
