So, it would seem that TERA is a success. Even though it didn't open to over a million players at launch, I've noticed a different trend with this game. Instead of a huge influx of people at the start and a slow trickle away, it was a mid-sized launch with an increase in population as time goes on.
People seem to be hearing about the game, and how the current players are enjoying it, and deciding to purchase. I know a few friends at work had never heard of it, but after playing it they went out and bought it.
Anyways, here's a pic depicting a GM stating the population.

Nice to hear! I hope the game makes and is highly successful. I will not resubscribe however so you can change that number -1.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
That is a suprising number! Glad the game is doing so well, I'll be interested to see how many pvpers stick it out after a month or two.
Is this number just from EU/NA or are they including players in K-Tera?
"Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

The game has barely launched and hasn't had an increase in anything, yet.
Wow 700k people playing a game thats just over a year old...thats a massive success...or not.

That's a good thing, I'm glad they are doing good. I hope they continue to see players trickle in for a long time to come.
So 1.7 and 1.2 million are considered failures when SWTOR is the subject.
But when TERA is the subject, somehow 700k is considered a success.
Irony...
1.7 and 1.2 million are failures for SWTOR because they didn't make as much as they spent on the game. Making it a failure.
700k for an action MMO with no IP, an unknown developer and little to no advertising is a great number.
But Tera isn't the kind of game that grows in subs.
In fact... from all the upcoming MMOs, the only one who looks to be able to grow instead of decline is ArcheAge.
TSW, GW2, B&S, Tera, they all lack real depth and long term playability.
The real questing is... how fast will they decline?

lol @ the SWTOR thing. Well, 700k for an underhyped (?) game can't be considered awful, but then again, do you think a ton of people will stick around for months because of the combat system?
As Ive said before my guild is 3rd rated on our server and yesterday we had 8 people total log on out of 380.
Many have already left and moved on... I promise you with D3 in 2 days, and TSW and GW2 to follow, by next month the game has maybe 100k paying for that first month sub if even.
Like any game it WILL lose subs in it's first few months, what will matter is if it can replace the "tourists" who will drop out after 1-3 months just like any other title.
700k is a respectable start though & I have a feeling that once it's numbers do bottom-out after the inital exodus wave it will retain a good core community & grow it steadily provided it can crank out adequate amounts of things for the endgame players to do.
Far too early to call it a success as an MMO, gotta see how it stands 12 months after release before that bell gets rung.
1.7 million dropping to 1.3 million in the first 4 months....is a failure. any mmo that had drops in subs in the first year has failed. If TERA has 700k in USA now, and either retains that number or increases it, then it is a success. If it drops it will fail plain and simple. mind you i am speaking of the number not the current people. SWTOR dropping 400k Subs means they failed to retain those 400k, and failed to replace them.
SWTOR could be a piece of shit and it would still sell well, it's Star Wars after all.
And that's exactly what happened, lol.

1.7 million in sales at regular price = 84.98 million alone. FIrst month subs= 25.4 million. They made their money back. They had to give the production cost in their yearly investor call with all their expenses.
Either way, Tera is F2P quality and has been out FOR A YEAR already. You Tera fans are so bad you are continually making me defend SWTOR which is a suck game...stop already.
Must be the scantly clad girl race...brings out the crazies.

They haven't made their money back, not by a long shot.
EA said they needed 500k subs for a year to break even.
LA get's 30% of subs revenues
EA doesn't get the 100% of a box sale, more like 40%.

yes my guild has about 310 people and getting about 35-40 every night which is not good
Very true, but 700K is a lot better than I envisioned after launch, particularly for a game I expect to be a niche title.
we should check those stats in a couple months for success..... eh?
I bought the game (mistake) and I will not be subscribing after the 30 days.
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
The 500k sub statement was given well over a year ago. LA is not recieving a share of sub revenue, it is a % of total revenue and its around 5%. EA gets gets all of the money from what a box is being sold to stores to. EA then dishes out to copyright holders. Bioware...is owned by EA.
Thay have already made over 100 million from Subs, sales from the nations it recently released in hasnt been released yet either. The game easily topped 200 million in revenue.

It is? Doesnt that make Vindictus the greatest thing in history? It has over 2 million players...and a better overall game, free 2 play as well. Everything Tera should be...

You don't have to buy anything to play Vindictus.
