Heh , you think I care about a lack of talent tree?  I find it pathetic that Blizzard couldn't meet server strenght expectations , the last thing you would of thought after waitting 12 years on a bloody game is having to leave 12 GB of HD space sitting there because you get disconnected at every minute or 2 of game play.

Map wise , it looks alot like Titan Quest

Quest wise , looks like Titan Quest

Skill/Talent tree wise , not sure since I can't level up due to heavy error messages and disconnections

Combat wise , looks awesome , if there is one thing that they didn't mess up it's got to be the combat

     Overall , somewhat dissapointed.

They might want to ask CCP to borrow some of their IBM super servers

yes logging in was a bit of a bitch the first day.   haha      but once in every thing ran fine.    1 thing that was cool was finding new things in a zone that were not there the first time i looked into every corner.  second time i went though 1 area i found a mine that wasn't there the first time with a merchant that needed some help.  after finishing his quest he would sell to me.  he had some really good stuff !!    so keep looking around area's u've been before.  u just never know what u might find this time   :)

He has certain misconceptions about D3.

    1) He seems to think the scene can hack the game to be playable offline.  That's an absolute joke.  The best they can do is make it easier to connect to a server emulation once they are written.  I don't think he even grasps server/client relationships.

    2) He seems to only care about the game as a single player game.  As such, he doesn't care about item hacking or bnet cheating.  He completely minimizes the benefit of storing all characters on their servers and running most of the code on their servers.  That doesn't mean that

    3) He only sees the evils of the RMAH and completely ignores the gold AH.  Ever tried trading items in D2.  the options were to create a game name with the trade you wanted, but if it wasn't elite good luck.  The other popular method was  D2JSP, where one person profited financially and trades were not secure.  You might get a refund from d2jsp if you got scammed, but that's a major hassle.

    4)  He clearly wasn't a serious D2 player and simply doesn't understand the appeal.  Which is why he sees TL2, with an open BNET type of system, and POE which also is online only,as comparable.

Yet u sat and played it for 15 hours. QQ more enjoy the game not run through it like ur on speed!

Got it, love it. I do obviously have some problems with it, not least the requirement of being online, and the related awful servers being down issues.

I also felt like progression was sort of set to autopilot, but I think that will go away after we've gotten higher up. I actually like the way early progression is done, because it encourages players to try different skills as they become available. This lets players get a feel for the class in a gradual way. I think the runs might become annoying after a while, but so far I like the concept and it's implmentation.

All in all, I think this was a well-reasoned partial review. Hopefully you can play long enough to give us a full one soon. If you like hack and slash action RPGs, you need to try DIablo III because it has some new things worth looking at.

"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

Having latency issues in a goddamned single player game ... that's a really a whole new "quality" of gaming. Thumbs up Blizzard!

lol. I laugh so hard when reading all the comments. If you can't stand server downtime, don't buy the game at launch then cry about it. I feel bad for the people who made the game for such idiots. Honestly, im sure blizzard is having a tough time dealing with the servers issues and i'm sure they're doing the best they can. People couldn't show appreciations these days. They just want more. If something unexpected happen, they whine and cry and bash shit about the game. You are lucky enough to have a game to play, enjoy the contents, and yet still cry over little stuff? I feel pity for all of you.

I love the online aspect of my character being available on any computer I want, without me moving save files around. Installed it at my office today and boom! There's my wizard ready to go right where I left off.

That right there, makes the online aspect totally worth it to me. Just need to figure a way to do item "copying" like in D2, which I suspect will be impossible, given the whole remote and online aspect.

I'm sure the Diablo 3 ad in the background has nothing to do with it. Then again this game has so much hype that everyone, even hidden object game sites, want to cover it.

Skyrim was even alot more popular here on mmorpg then diablo3 but it did not get there own section maybe becouse its solo rpg dunno but skyrim was huge on this site for months.

And I think Skyrim is more like a mmorpg then diablo..

Huge HUGE WORLD where you are free to roam around in. vs a lineair mouse clicker.

What i don't get is why are just the US servers always down and not the Euro or Asian servers, or maybe they are during different times but at least i can play when the US servers are down hehe.

With expcetion of Day 1 the servers have been pretty stable, but agree with an earlier poster, latency in a single player game is something new :D

This is probably due to loot validation for their upoming RMAH, but i think they should at least give you an option to play offline.

Like Mike pointed out it has at least "crappy launch days" in common with mmorpgs. Lolz.

Also I think it was Suzie or Bill that said that even when Diablo III isn't technically a mmorpg, it has many things in common (apart from the massively bit) and the target groups overlap for a great deal too.

This and the fact that majority readers asked for it to be covered. Plus, at BlizzCon, Wyatt basically said "It's an MMO in our eyes, but we're not calling it that officially." Yes, it's missing a shared world, but given the always-on (except when it's down, lolz) nature of the title and its social aspects, is it really that much of a stretch?

Its not massive, thus its not an mmo. 4 players in one instance is not massive.

There are aspects like auction house which are massive.

About price, take in mind you don't have monthly fees.

Diablo3 is just cool and fun! Great game!

Yes, because in the age of Flash Drives (measuring in Gb) and portable Hard Drives (now in the Tb range) moving around save files (or even complete copies of games) from computer to computer is such a drag isn't it?

You do realise of course that many people don't work in an industry where they are permitted to play games at work?

Also, I bet many people don't have the necessary Admin access to work computers to install games...

So really for many people this is not an option - let alone a selling point.

Sorry if you feel flamed here - it's not personal - just suggesting an alternate reality.

    Tell that to this guy...

He won't even have his life soon if he keeps on that pace. He needs to talk to this guy.

A game I would rather play single player where you lag and can't play because of bad servers..

Some horrendous cutscenes that look like paper with a just as generic and "as expected" as a diablo game could possibly get with its story.

All because Diablo added in freaking DRM which is all this "always online" crap really is no matter how much they spew the "Games all need to be online!!" junk  as an excuse..

Not to forget the auction house crap looming in the background of everything..

Being a link/banner on this page is sickening..

Lol, maybe they got bought out by UbiSoft or EA. As far as I'm concerned, blizzard can go to hell and freeze before getting my $. On my BAN list and never buy anything related to them.

I am a fan of D2, but this shit, is well, shit.

Rather spend my $60 on a few blowjobs and not get error 37's.

Was such a major letdown in beta. The always online and lack of a skilltree plus the colorful and dated graphics ruined it for me. I wanted dark gritty bloody. I wanted them to build on the huge improvement the skill tree was from D2. I made multiple of the same chars and ran them in D2 with different builds.  I will pick up in Bargain Bin just to complete my Diablo collection but as a Diablo sequel it was a huge disappointment.

Keep in mind that this is Blizzard we are talking about. I love the company and have never been dissatisfied with any of their games. But they do have trouble estimating how much stress stuff will take. For those of you who are wow players, how many major content patches/expansions went out smooth? You also have to consider they had hundres of thousands of people trying to get on at the same time.

I, for one, am very impressed with the game. True, the story is a little lacking and predictable, but I played all week from 1-52 (on a Monk) and am currently in Act 1 of Hell difficulty. The multiplayer adds a fun depth and battle.net/realID makes it very easy to find people to play with.

    Current Games:
    World of Warcraft
    Star Wars: The Old Republic

I am having a ball with the game.  Got one character going through solo and a few doing it multiplayer.  Fun stuff.
