Grinding

Nowdays when reading the forums people seem to be complaining about the level grinding and how boring that is.

You want to reatch endgame and start gear grinding in a group with peaople you dont know and maybe you dislike?

10+ years ago I played my first mmorpg, that was Asherons Call, gees talk about grinding! But it was fun it was the most entertaining game I ever played and yes I revisit it from time to time.Grinding was fun becous every time you killed a mob you had a chance to find this once in a livetime loot. there were no mobs that only dropped 10 different items (one per kill) all mobs in the game had unlimitet loot creation. Wow and when they introduced the dimond lords,it took 30 minutes to check the loot they dropped 100+ items.Maybe you did not find any interesting loot on the Diamond lord then you left it on the ground.

Well now it takes less than a week to reach level cap in most game and for most players that means game over since they dont like group based gear grind and pvp.

I realy hope we will get cosmetic upgrades to games like UO, EQ, AC. we dont need new games just modern graphic for our beloved games where grinding was fun.

I enjoyed mob grinding back in EQ where you could get a camp with a rare spawn with a group of buddies.  Very social and you always looked forward to a chance at some rare loot and get some decent exp while doing it.  If a friend wanted a fungi tunic it was always easy to get folks together to go get it.  Its no wonder just about everyone on the server knew each other.

Its hard to find that nowdays because good loot usually comes from quests (solo), no rare spawns and loot from mobs is randomized.  Exp is mostly from the quests as well.

I absolutely loved spending hours/days in guk/seb at different camps (uphill, in the snow and we loved it).

Oh my god, thanks for reminding me. Camps. Undoubtedly one of the worst game mechanic from old MMOs. Even without the contrast of today's games I thought they were mindnumbingly boring and stupid. Just horrible...

Yes grinding is so fun if you make more than xp out of it.
