I wasted so much money lately on pass time that its furiating me. I mean I played the first beta weekend and was surely expecting fixes. Then played 5 hours in the latest Monday stress test, and it was evident that its mostly ready now. Why that wait?! I can see how they can wait for even 6 months more just to make it 100% polished, but really, the level of fun and readiness is there already.
D3 and Tera came and went for me within 3 days. I am itchy and frustrated. I tasted GW2 and can't play now. I am willing to pay 15$ for just an on going beta server play till release. Why not just open the servers for continual beta. Just take my money ANet.
This is just silly. ANet took the "when its ready" too far ... well at least let it be beta weekend 2 already, and then announce Release immediately thereafter!
Just my 2cp. I never thought I will like that game as I have in reality. My favorite aspect is not being told what to do. Not managing a quest log put me in a place where all other games are ruined for me now. I can't go back ...

Game releases now, it's just another buggy, unoptimized MMORPG release. Take a chill pill, and let them finish it first.

That's a good one. Well I think anyone with their stock now would do great too
I have none ...

Only get one chance to release properly, especially for a B2P.
There are still tons of bugs and things to improve upon before release.
I agree its not 100% polished. But really interested to hear from you guys, what you found most missing in the last stress test. My porsonal experience (PvE) on multiple chars and areas, was totally flawless.

Nah, he plays and loves games.. EA exectutives wouldnt be caught dead playing a video game.. they just want the money.
It really needs to be optimized more so it uses less cpu and more graphics card. We need the other two races to be playable (really think that after they let us try out those two is when it is REAL close to launch). Not sure about the stress test since I mostly hung out in Norn land, but I remember a few human land DE's that needed a little more balance.
I feel ya man, dont get me wrong. I would love for them to say they fixed everything and it is ready to play. Just do what I do, keep checking, keep telling yourself that they are working as hard as they can, keep watching video's and checking forums to talk about the game. Get anxious and furstrated that you cant play the game. Keep checking if they announced anything again. Keep telling yourself that they are... you get the idea.
It may be frustrating but having a developer do it right is something that should be encouraged.
for me all star areas and some lvl 15+ was almost perfect, only bugs i found was about trait class, especially with Necro that was the class i play most (lvl23). overflow have the party bug and game is CPU bound.
if they correct this on BW2 i have no doubt game will be lauch on July.
asura and sylvari i doubt will be available on any BW
Anet know what they are doing.. if they release it now there'd be a ton of people saying "too early'

Hmmm I'd have to disagree... I'd say its pretty buggy still. Lot of combat animations that dont go through correctly, or mobs with buggy air attacks. Especially with the mesmer class... also its not incredibly responsive the way I think it could be at release given a couple more stress tests, and beta weekend tests....
Definitely not ready.... SUPER FUN... but not ready.
They just patiently waiting till the hype of Tera, Diablo III and The Secret World has settled.
No point releasing it now in the middle of all these releases.
On one hand, I've certainly seen games released less well made than this (Hello Funcom, looking at you....)
On the other hand, I'd like to wait until they have everything nailed down.
On the OTHER other hand...I wants it naows!
Really, you think they'll go live without ever letting people play these two races?
It's possible I suppose, and ANET marches to a different drummer, but still.... seems risky.

It was laggy for me.
Putting something out before it is ready is a bad idea unless you have no other options. ANet have the right idea, do it right, the first time.
When all has been said and done, more will have been said than done.
Given how few games are ready for launch on the day they actually launch, I think it's unlikely that any particular game is ready for launch months ahead of time.
So how about at least them having a continual beta for the next 3 weeks? In a sense that they actually have us test, like restrict certain areas and classes and content. I just want to play, while they get it ready, and with the twist that I can probably help. This way they can also train their support and technical teams without 100% comittment. Just a thought. The more I scratch the bigger the itch

Maybe they figure they can fish in some more pre-orders while they wrap up details.
Speaking of which, is that still available? Pre-order and get access to BWE?
Engine and server optimization. We all saw how not having your network optimized come release when Diablo 3 launched a few days back. A-net knows the first few days NEED to be playable as much as possible to start on the right foot. The stress test was a baseline for them, and now for these last few months they will try to optmize the crap out of it, and hopefully start using the GPU more.
So imo, GW2 is not quite ready yet, but its close.
I get what you say all. Just that when you use the term "next months" in referring to the time till release, I get itchy.

you want your cake and to eat it now. something that is very different between the generations since the PC and internet, and those before, within the modern cultures, and soon the developing countries, is that we have a real problem with delayed gratification. patience padawan (no snipe, just couldn't resist). it will come, just let it grow. no need for them to push their baby out before it's ready (and they determine that).
Trust me when i say it is better to wait and look good, than rush it and get it broken.
WAR, great game, rushed. Result: broken. Result: in life support state.
AoC, great game, rushed. Result: broken. Result: in life support state.
AION, one of the best mmo platforms released, rushed, korean concept. Result: broken. Result: in bad shape.
I'd play GW2 even if all I could do was hang out in the low level zones and do WvW/sPvP... but you've got to admit ANet is doing the right thing by finishing the game before announcing that it is actually finished. Some other less reputable game companies have released "finished" games that were far from it and simply claimed that MMOs evolve as time goes on so it's okay to release unfinished games.
I want to play GW2 despite the fact that it's not finished but I can't blame ANet for doing the right thing and finishing the game before releasing it.
I don't know. Remember when the beta seemed like it was a terribly long way away? And now we've played the game. Time passes quicker than you think, it won't be too long now. Have patience. The best way to get it into your hands sooner is participate in the betas and report every bug you find.
The current build runs at 9-15 fps on my machine on low-medium graphics. While my rig ain't the newest, it can run Skyrim and Assassin's Creed in ultra detail no problem, as well as Age of Conan which is probably the best looking and technically advanced MMO out there. So no, they are not ready by far, not to mention all the balancing and bugs. Depending on how fast they can work, I can see a few months of work yet to be done with multiple beta events.
ANet is in an unique position, unlike other devs they do not have a deadline, and can work out all the issues and deliver a solid product. I still believe they can do it, and even though I suffer from withdrawal and want to play it right now, I'd rather wait than get half-boiled eggs.
