Difficulty of RTS games

For the most part I've never really bothered playing RTS games but with the recent surge in popularity of the genre and many friends of mine being avid fans of SC2 and LOL I started playing a little bit of SC2 but I'm having a really hard time with it. I've played through about 7 missions in the campaign and had to restart a few of them before I shamefully switched the difficulty to casual. The only other RTS i've played for more than an hour was company of heroes and I had to stop playing that game too because it just became too difficult for me. So I'm just wondering is it normal to be confused and really bad or do I just plain suck at RTS games?

You simply can't start in Platinum League(is there any higher League?) and Expect to stay there, because that is Like starting on Hard(Ultra Hard to be exact).

TLDR: Yes it is. Just take your time and you will even be able to Master such games Like CoH or DoW...

I played through 15 missions now and I do seem to be getting a hang of things but ye I still do pretty much suck at the game and have come to the realization that it's going to take a lot more playtime before I get any good, on the bright side I have a lot more respect for pro SC2 players now haha.
