You are stranded on a deserted island...

TyvolusNextTyvolusNext Member Posts: 192

you find a cave to survive the long, cold, lonely nights in.  Oddly enough, it has a WiFi connection and your gaming laptop survived the shipwreck with you.  What 5 games would you want to hold you over for the next 10 years until which time  you are miraculously rescued ?*

My selections.

1) company of heros

2) Skyrim

3) Never Winter Nights

4) EverQuest

5) Civ V

Whatever games you choose, we will be under the assumption they have solid playerbase and dev attention such as patches for at least the next 10 years...

Hmmmmmm, well besides the fact that if I had wifi, I'd make sure I wasn't on the island for 10 years.......................

Battery life could be an issue as well........................

I think I'd rather have one of my portables and a few good tactical titles if I were in that situation. The Disgaea titles can be never-ending.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

well ya,. the premise is kinda silly, but the point is clear.  its all about the games one would choose to hold them over.

Good thread, well done to the OP.

    1. I agree with the people about NWN 1 and 2 - loads of good content.
    2. A real sandbox, Wurm, Xsyon or Ryzom would do.
    3. One of the games you play when you should get some work done, for example Sudoku, Bubble Shooter or Minesweeper if there's no other choice.
    4. Aye, an RTS or sim would come handy, both Civilization or a flight sim could fit the bill.
    5. *coughs* Second Life or something, a man wants to see some nice chicks so now and then ...

I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions.

If i was on a deserted island with a laptop and internet, why would i want to be rescued?

  • AvatarBladeAvatarBlade Member UncommonPosts: 757

On a stranded island with a laptop that can play any game and internet acces? Yarr, I'd become a pirate and not have to settle to 5 games only.

No video game would overcome my boredom of being far away from human contact (real one, not virtual one).

But if anything, I'd take Guild Wars 2 (beta). I've bought it and I love it, so I can keep on playing for beta and release. Minecraft maybe, but I'll possibly have enough survival stuff to do on my island to want to also play it virtually... LOTRO because I have a lifetime account, and I know that every few months I'll be able ot come back for free to play the story line.

Actually, I think I'd rather take a C/C++ compiler and all the tools needed so I can work on my own game (something like Minecraft, but different and with better graphics). In 10 years, I'd have time to do something quite good.
