For me it says: We've already had to close down half our servers, and are looking for any way to keep the fan base we have left with GW2 and TSW coming soon. So we'll just start regurgitating some ideas from past successful MMOs and hope they work.
That's how you see it because you're not one of the many who requested these features to be in Rift.
Originality be damned, this is what their playerbase wants and it's good to know they're listening to them instead of constantly in denial of their subscription status.
No, it isnt. Meaningful open world PvP has been the top request from the PvPers (well besides 'nerf the souls Im not playing and buff me.' This is not meaningful open world PvP. This is neither meaningful (it doesnt even happen on real-Telara, it happens on Bizzaro-Telara) nor open world (its an instanced battleground).
Someone that just started playing two days shouldnt really be commenting on what the player base wants.
Playing the game or not is irrelevant. I've read the comments on the Conquest article MMORPG written and I've seen positive reactions. I'm sure there are also negative ones, but I don't have concrete/statistical information what the MAJORITY wants, do you? Those I witnessed who are happy with this are also part of the playerbase. I don't see how I give out misinformation as I didn't use the words "majority", "entire", or "all" or tried to give any sort of number. You just misunderstood me.

Men, don't you have any better reason to bitch about or go against ? Maybe some personal stuff, neighborhood, country, World...
You bitch about so little, in this case you are bitching about a GOOD thing.
Devs are called out when they do nothing and now when they try something also...
I'm not a Rift player but its quite unique the effort Trion does to make a better game and add value to their subscribers, i'm yet to see a company in the Triple A market that does so much for their product.
I don't follow that close Rift development but i do come here everyday and i often see news about Rift and their makings...
Now go get a life, use your time for something better.... this forums are sickenning.
Theres more than a few posts floating around saying Trion ripoff and trion sees it.
My thoughts are really: No mmo before introduced a 3rd faction pvp option in an already running game, and into an already
existing world, so who really cares about gw2 ripoff or anything else, we are watcing mmo history being made, why not
embrace it and hope your favorite game can do the same? for me it says:
We can change a game, and will devote resources to it because the fans and game need it.
Just a thought.
Have to admit that my feelings about that are also mixed. I mean going as far as ripoff from GW2 is too far (in that case GW2 is a ripoff from DAoC after all). However changing 2 factions into 3 one year after launch is a different thing.
Still we must remember one thing: players were asking for such feature since the very beginning (months before Rift launched). So better question is why instead of making stuff that ppl actually wanted to see they first did crappy server wide pvp stuff and they did not make such feature as pvp priority for them? I remember that still even those 2-3 months after launch getting some nice ow pvp fight didn't require to go and gank randoms as even ordinary rifts could be reason to do some fun pvp.
And then ppl got bored, left and Trion didn't even try to react (unless introducing pvp quests can be called any reaction). Bottom line is that if they did introduce this or similar feature sooner then I feel that things could be much different, at least in this area.
