Avatar Looks

I was thinking that perhaps the avatars appearance could change based on what has happened to it. For instance..If you are in a fight and you are brought to to Near Dissolution, I think it would be cool to have the avatar look beat up. Torn clothes, and other possibilities. Maybe a little blood, but that may make the game a little too violent. Once you are fully healed your avatar would return to it's perfect condition. What do you all think?

Well my support on that would hinge on one thing and one thing along.  If it would affect the variety of avatar appearances avaliable.  I mean, if we only get a few skins and looks because the graphics department had to make 5 different states of beatup on every avatar, then I am not for it.  If they  can pull it off and still give us a very wide selection of variety,  then I'm all for it.

I don't think blood is a good idea. For one, increases the rating of the game. Secondly, who has flesh and blood in the dream. My idea would be, the person starts to look blurred or fuzzy. The avatar is breaking down near collapse, the person's look should reflect that.

The avatar is just a shell that holds the essence of the dreamer. So once they are heavily damaged, their avatar could start to fade in and out and look blurred. I'm assuming Reclamation is going to keep the floating balls for a collapsed dreamer, so maybe as the dreamer fades slightly their essence is visible.

    Not a bad idea.

Agreement with Joci on this. Plus it would be easier to implement a slow breakdown to the avatar as you near dissoulution than 'injuries' in a more traditional sense.

Personally, I'm much more concerned with the clothing idea that was being thrown around a while back . I'd really like to see that.

Avatars showing damage would be cool and I love bloody and gore but I just don't think it has a place in a dream. Maybe having missing pieces of avatar or dents in your avatar or even something to represent dreamsoul... You chould start leaking out steam or something...

I don't say this because it would raise the rating, you have to be 18 to play Underlight or have the permission of an adult and I'm assuming Reclamation will be the same. It just doesn't make sense for a dreamer to bleed... I mean, maybe if they think they'll bleed they will start bleeding because they believe it but as far as the game goes I don't think it really has a place except maybe if someone RPs that they're bleeding.

    Just my 2¢

Ok. I guess blood was a stupid idea, but I still think avatars should have torn clothes when they get damaged.

An scenerio comes to mind.   Bumh of dreamers battling hard a dark mare or two or three.  All the mares are finally collapsed.  Someone else walks in, with slightly evil tendencies, or just flat looking to advance themselves, and sees four or five other dreamers all fuzzy like.  New dreamer opens fire seeing the easy prey.  Not sure about the torn clothing but I like the idea that we get slightly fuzzy with each hit till we collapse

    ....and life goes on

Ooh actually I kind of like the fuzzy idea better... Then again, torn clothes sound kind of cool too... Maybe fuzzy torn clothes...

Maybe when you're about to die all your clothes are gone but its censored because you're fuzzy...

Heh ok, maybe I just think that will be funny. Might be cool though.

If you check my thread in this forum labled "techniques" I had listed an idea similar to the fuzziness, except you needed a special techniquee to see the aura.  It would have been akin  to judgement, except that you'd be eyeing the avatar's actual looks under this move and make the call yourself, rather then letting a text string dictate what you saw.
