Twothreefour well he was one of many that said similar things. Like I said I had to find one that was recent. Many have specifically said that the Real Money AH is a way of Blizzard charging you. You are right they cannot force you, I have told them that. But many believe that somehow they will make it so to enjoy the game you will have to use it. They argue that it is a ploy by Blizzard to cash in off the 15%. I think it is ludicrous frankly.
I very much believe that the main reason for the Real Money AH to exist is because Blizzard wants to use it as yet another method to cash in through their game. However, I would agree with you that it is not mandatory. Now, if the most difficult adventures in the game require you to have so good gear that the only reasonable way to get them without weeks of grinding is through the Real Money AH, I can understand why some people feel like the Real Money AH would be mandatory even if it isn't.
hun, you were not who I was talking about. I am refering to those who come here and say they will never buy the game, that it is a piece of trash and that Diablo 2 looks better and blah blah. All of which are not true if they looked at the game and played it.
Hun, check my post history. I have said I will never buy the game...because of the DRM forced online play...
I will not support any game that forces you to play online when it is a standalone game. I will say it, I will say it no matter how much you dont like hearing it and the same is for any game that I BUY. I am a consumer, I have a right to speak even if I dont buy it...because I WOULD HAVE if they didnt use DRM.
If I dont say anything, they will never know they lost a customer because of their actions.
Hun you are missing out. But if you will never buy the game, then do not complain about it. I do not get why you guys complain about it so much. Plenty of games require online access to play even if you solo. You had better get used to it, becuase it is the wave of future gaming.

Quit caring that people don't want to play your precious game and get over the thought that you're opinion is worth anything to anyone else.
I've found that for the most part people hating on the game either have a bug up their ass about Blizzard in general (looking at you, TotalBiscuit), or are simply bitter Diablo 2 vets who are wearing nostalgia goggles and/or just wanted Diablo 2 with updated graphics.
D3 is a worthy successor to the series. It does have faults (mostly in the writing/dialogue departments) and had a less than spectacular launch (for which there is no excuse, IMO) but it's definitely one of the best games I've played in a good while.

I really do not know why they put the real money AH in the game. I frankly do not care. It is not forced if I do not want to use it I will not. Problem solved. I do not see how they could force you to use it regardless without making it obvious, which would make them look bad. I think it is silly to think that the Real money AH is mandatory. And one enters. Hun, Many people play MMORPG's solo all the time. That is essentially a single player game. I have played much of Diablo 3 single player and I am having a blast. I have had minimal lag and only 2 disconnects one becuase my internet went down.
mmorpgs are not single player games, just because you can play them solo doesn't mean they are single player games. Diablo IS a singleplayer game end of story no matter how you want much bs you want to spin its still a single player game and thus completely different than a MMORPG.
It has an extensive multiplayer side as well. Cannot be categorized to only be a single player game. As for how far aways it stands from MMORPGs in different aspects: one would have to analyze them. For instance, the auction house is massive, and even more massive than in most MMORPGs which have server-limited auction houses. The amount of concurrent players that can fight certain enemies is low compared to certain MMORPGs but of the same magnitude as more instanced ones such as SWTOR.
lots of games have an extensive multiplayer side of the game yet none of them require an internet for their game, you just can't play that portion of the game.
stop spinning the bs its a singleplayer game with multiplayer aspects, thus it should not require an internet connection
I will give it this game is no Diablo 2. But keep in mind that Diablo 2 was best after it's Expansion. Before the LOD expansion the game was good, but not as great as after. With that said I still do not get many of the gripes about Diablo 3.
-Many claim Blizzard is trying to charge you by requiring internet access. The problem with this is Blizzard is not profitting from you needing to have internet access.
-Many claim the game is not free becuase of the real money Auction House. The only problem with that is noone is forcing you to us the real money auction house.
-Some claim Diablo 2 had better graphics. Seriously... This game has much better graphics and the reason it is not super high end graphics is that Blizzard wants to have a game that most people can play while still having decent graphics. It is like that with EVERY Blizzard game.
I have heard other arguements, but I cannot remember them all, but most of them are baseless. Why do people hate this game so much. Many of the haters either barly played the game or did not at all (rolls eyes.)
I'm not playing Diablo 3, not a fan of Activision, but you must be new around here. According to people on this forum, literally every game ever is garbage and/or dying.

The game is a horribly bastardized version of Diablo .... and unworthy of the name. It's truly a shame that the game sold so well ....when the majority of its purchasers detest the game. ( Go read metacritic ) The only people who are still enjoying this game haven't discovered Nightmare mode yet ... much less the futility of farming inferno. Inferno mode isn't difficult ... its tedious, I've got plenty of gear to do it, not to mention sitting one many more millions of gold. Whats the point in playing this atrocious Mmo loot progession game, it has very little that made the first two Diablos so much fun.
Rant off ..... I'm done with Blizzard, had EA pulled this the servers would be on fire with complaints.
OP, if you dont like to read diferent opinions from yours you shouldnt be on a forum.
They really should have this disclaimer when people sign up.
I don't like Diablo 3, I enjoyed D2 but this latest edition just seems like a soul-less cash grab to me. That's just my opinion. I tryed the beta and got bored very quickly, I thought that I had just evolved past the genre, but then I played the Torchlight 2 beta and the magic was still there for me. I just find D3 to lack that special something that grabs me.
I too am amazed that people will buy Diablo 3, despite the horrible DRM, RMAH, dumbed down gameplay, and horrible WoW art-style graphics.
The beauty of this is that it is my opinion. Calling them "Baseless" because you disagree is hardly worth posting about it don't you agree?
This guy took the words right out of my mouth. Diablo 2 was like getting setup on a blind date and she ends up being a perfect 10 blonde. Diablo 3 is like getting a second date with her, but when you show up its a different girl that is mentally handicapped. You can be polite and go along with it like you have Stockholm Syndrome, but the more logical choice is to complain that you got screwed over.

Even if the multiplayer part of the game was 75% of the focus and the single player part was 25%, I would still agree with that it shouldn't be necessary to have internet connection to play the single player part. However, that's a different discussion.
hun, you were not who I was talking about. I am refering to those who come here and say they will never buy the game, that it is a piece of trash and that Diablo 2 looks better and blah blah. All of which are not true if they looked at the game and played it.

It's not complaining it's simply what it is. When I pay for a single player game, I want to play it whenenver I damn well please, not at the discretion or the ability of the company. Is it hard to get that when you pay for something you want to have a sense of control over it?
Noone is missing out, fortunately there are a lot of good games out there.
As for the future gaming, what you describe, imo is not future gaming, it's just an exploitation of kids/teenagers out of their cash.

I actually find those whining about people that have an issue with the single player online shtick a hell of a lot more annoying.

You obviously havent been to the official forums. Loads of quitting threads, or demanding change, etc. One of the biggest complaints, one which i 100% agree with is the horrible itemization and statting in the game. Theres several threads on the front page alone maxed out (lol @ their 500 post limit on threads) with people agreeing how horrible those aspects of the game are and signing threads asking for change and ideas presented by players for how to improve it. This also includes at least 1 thread requesting they wipe the entire game, spend a few mor emonths working these things out and improving it. People would actually prefer they just shut the damn thing down, fix it, and then relaunch rather than leaving it playable with the stupidity that exists now.
single player games should NOT require an internet connection
I agree with this and I'm playing Diablo 3 and enjoying it, BUT....there is no way that the game should require an internet connection unless you're actively playing multi-player. No way, sorry. I understand your love for the game, OP, but like with any other game, that doesn't mean it's perfect. I love GW2 as well....but it's not perfect. I think it's perfect for ME, but that doesn't mean it's a perfect game all the way around.

single player games should NOT require an internet connection
I wouild of agreed with your up unitl the point when I played it, it was then I realized why they did it. The games underlying technology is not built upon your single player experience. It is built around the multiplayer experience whether or not you decide to play multiplayer or not is up to you.
Their multiplayer technology for this game is seamless and quite amazing. At its base its nothing more than an MMO that only you log into but the people on your friends list can join you at anytime popping in and out at will and not effecting your single player game one bit.
And I have bad news for you, I expect this game model will become the norm for all AAA games in the future.

Diablo is essentially a multiplayer game. The longevity of Diablo II and the massive development effort post release was due to the online portion of the game and not the singleplayer portion. Its the social aspects of the game that have kept it going.
