The thing is, while it's great to see progress, this is really nothing that any video game doesn't have or hasn't had since the 1990s.

The fights looked sloppy as well, and you can tell that they were "cropped" to not include the bugged parts

Only AI Ive been slightly impressed by so far was in DF and The Chronicles of Spellborn. Video looks rather cool, will be interesting to see how much of that they will get into the game. Then again, technically wise it is not that impressive, most games skipped such features due to design decisions I think, rather than tech limits.

Looks pretty good, certainly an improvement over the current system.  Should make the towns seem a bit more alive.

Definitely looking forward to this update.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

This is because most games are designed to be themeparks.

Your joking about DF's AI right?  They're really not any smarter than WoW's AI, infact I would say it's actually stupider.

What this video is showing is AI that's competitive to the AI in Skyrim.  It will be nice to see guards in Mortal behave almost like the guards in Skyrim.

Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!

guards in skyrim werent anything special either though, but im wondering iff these mo guards will attack mobs as well as just players?

lol that you think mobs running around in circles while fighting you is a hallmark of smart AI.

darkfalls AI was smart,  but way to easy to bug out.  It was the only MMO where i have seen mobs try and pull players.

Reading comprehension. I simply said that is is more impressive than rest of the games. Compare DFs AI, where it tries to dodge, pull others, circle around you to WoW, where AI simply charges you and stands there taking your beating. How one can think WoWs is better is beyond me.

lolololol!!! The ai in DF is the most retarded of any mmo's.

If they're melee only, they will follow you none stop and they will run in circle after you reach their spawn leash limit. Than, you can use your range attack to kill them one by one or you can go melee and heal yourself back to full once you step out of their circle.

If they can use range attack, they will run away all day while you kill them from the back.

The only thing good they have, is the fact that their aim is better than any players out there. Thats it. Ho yeah, they're only hard if everything they spam are surged spells like the evil eyes. Even bosses are so dumb and deosnt have any situational skills for in case they get surrended by 2 players only. Fact is, every bosses gets killed by 1, 2 or 4 players. Only the ice dragon is hard, but not worth it.

    ...

MO, in order to be good shouldnt appeal to the pkers only. PVE plays a huge part in a mmo. In DF, you only want to pvp cuz everything else sux.

Actualy many mobs in Darkfall return to a starting point when they reach their leash.  They also don't run at you in a straight line, many will dodge.  Many mobs with ranged attacks stand their ground and fight.  Agreed that mobs should have situational attacks when they get boxed in.  You are vastly over simplifying things here though.  You are assuming end-game characters with maxed daggers, dagger buffs, heals, haste, etc.  New players can't touch a dragon or a devil.

Which MMO AI is better?  Because I haven't seen it.  It's certainly not WoW or any WoW-clone I've seen.

I'll never understand why people on these forums can't make a proper link.

I also have to disagree with the guy that thinks DF mob AI is no better then WoW.  DF has a lot of issues, but the mob AI isn't really one of them, and the mob AI in WoW is nowhere near as intelligent as DF's.

More MMO's would be much improved if they had AI as well done as DF, including MO.

I'm curious to see how well the AI does when the expansion finally releases.  Killing things in MO was always a big turnoff for me.

PS: I really hope they'll go back and revamp 3rd person animations at some point.  The animations in 1st person are very good, but when you see other people doing stuff, no so much.

What's "bad" is that its taken 2 years to get to this point. How long before creative features are implemented? Another 2 or 3 years?

    "nothing special"

There are no other MMO's with a system like this. When this expansion is released it will basically have the best mob AI of any MMO ever made.  It's revolutionary.

Please highlight the "revolutionary" features then, because I'm seeing AI that's been present in games since the dawn of MMOs.

i think to call it revolutionary is abit to much, but the exciting part of the ai system is still only talk and no proof of concept yet, such as the roaming packs of mobs that migrate from 1 location to another, the fact that spawns start off with young animals and over time grow with age meaning farming 1 area isnt going to be effective especially if they are roaming around. But its just henrik telling us how cool it is and us holding our breath for it to actually be true this time.

That all is already implemented in Xsyon, to my knowledge?

Xsyon is a crafting MMO.  There's really no comparison to the counterstrike knifefight combat style of Xsyon to Mortal Online.

If you hate pvp and love crafting Xsyon is the game for you, otherwise were just going to stick with Mortal.  In Xyson, if you don't want to PVP, you can always just walk away from combat.  Your opponent will run out of stam swinging weapons at you giving you enough time to run away with 99% health.

Anyways beyond just the fact that Mobs grow over time is there are "unique" mobs were as each mob looks different to other mobs even two of the same "types" of mobs will look different like you see with horses in Mortal Online today.  While this is mostly cosmetic is sure as hell beats looking at the same exact mob skin all the time.

It doesn't matter if you perceive Xsyon to be less actionbased than MO. You claim those features of upcoming MO AI, where mobs evolve, migrate and breed are revolutionary to MMO, while Xsyon already has them all. You earlier compared MO to WoW, so I don't see why Xsyon would fall short.

Who cares if the new AI or other features are revolutionary or not? The point is that these new features are an improvement to THIS GAME. And for those of us who actually care about the game, that is a good thing. I don't care if good AI has been done in other games or not. It will make MO a better game.
