Troll Classes

KaneKane Member Posts: 780

Hey, look at this...a post thats NOT about game quality...anyways...

I was wondering. I'm planning on playing a betrayer Troll and was wondering what good/neutral classes they are best at? I've heard they have horribly slow energy recoup rate so they make horrible half-classes (ie, warriors with magic, mages with swords, like Paladins, etc). I'd REALLY like to play a Troll Paladin, though, cause, well...thats just not something you see every day.

So there it is. Good idea? Bad idea? Lemme know your thoughts.

Well, at the advice of my much more experienced roommate, I decided on an Iksar Paladin. This should be interesting...

I think its a good move by SoE to allow all races to play all classes, it will (hopefully) add a little diversity.

And when it comes to the eternal question about "the best race" I say: Pick the race you want to play. If your character is good or bad depends on how you play him/her. Im sure you can balance up certain flaws with items etc.

Yus, I hate things you can't choose because you are the wrong race!

There are a couple of Troll Pallys on Faydark. One of them hit 50 about 2 weeks ago.

Betraying is fun and I would recommend it to anyone if for no other reason than its a nice big quest with lots to see and do image. Also since the "re balance" to strength in melle damage Trolls are pretty desirable tanks since they generally get the most HP.

Wow, I didnt know there was a betrayal-quest, that sounds cool indeed. I just thought that you choose your class and then...well, then youre just moved to the other town or something lame like that. The more I learn about EQ2 the better it seems.

I would choose to go the other way though (from good to evil), maybe a wood elven shadowknight.

Any race can play any class image

At Level 15 you have to choose if you plan to be something like you said, say a Woodelf Assassain or SK. You would have to seek out the betrayal quest giver for your city before 17 (could be 18 cant remember) and do the betrayal to the other city.

Once you complete the betryal you can get a new Inn Room (be sure to abandon your old one before you leave your old city) then visit your new class trainer of your choice.

Betrayal is not easy and you WILL die at least once and lose AT LEAST one shard. You may even make a mistake in the quest (like I did) and lose up to 4gp. That hurts a LOT at level 15 believe me! But the quest is fun and you learn heaps about the zones between the good and evil lands. Also the best reward is you end up with an unusual charcater.

When I first got to Qeynos the game had only been going maybe 3 weeks and the double takes from the elves as my Rat ran by them, was worth every minute of the drama I had doing betryal.

    hehe, sounds like fun image

I suddenly realized what I want to see: and ogre chanter or other INT caster class. Must look hilarious. Imagine, a big dumb ogre with a fanzy pink robe, waving a tiny staff that could be his toothpick.

Heh...yup, I went with the Iksar Paladin. Over the weekend, I made it to 10 so I'm a Crusader now. Knowing the character is going to become good, some of the Freeport quests are PAINFUL to complete. Will be great to RP, though, since I'm on an RP server (D'Lere since it has a lower pop than Bale). If anyone wants to chat, in game name is Tefis.
