I so hope Planetside 2 is good...

After playing GW2 in beta because everyone was saying how innovative and amazing it is. I realised it's exactly the same as every other MMO I've played out there, it feels like a WAR clone, the combat has this delayed feeling to it (basically not as good as WoWs) and the world doesn't feel like a world because it's all instanced up. 

Like the only hope now is Planetside 2, mostly everything I've seen from the game looks great and I didn't expect SOE to actually deliver an open seamless FPS like Planetside but with more people. I was fully ready for a dumbed down instanced up F2P title with the max players being 32 or something lol. 

Knowing SOEs track record I'm reluctant to get that excited for it, I just hope it's good or there is nothing on the horizon that we've seen so far that holds any hope for the genre. I've been waiting since I quit WoW in 2006 for a new MMO, really though I haven't loved an MMO since I was kicked out of SWG by SOE with the CU and NGE.

Who knows if SOE deliver then maybe EQ3 (using the same engine) might be something great as well.

Just original Planetside with graphical update would be enough for most of us so I have huge hopes for PS2 aswell!

To the rest of your post OP, i too have hopes that this game will be good. Planetside 2 is obviuosly not going to be my "virtual home", but the idea is amazing. Never played the original one, but i love FPS'ers and combining it with persitante 3 sided warfare over huge continents is going to be enough to keep me coming back ovr an dover. Mostly because it truly us completly different from any mmo. Also, it's FREE!!!!!!

Planetside 2 will have some issues but it's shapping up to be amazing.

PS- Don't say stuff about games if you don't know them....GW2 is hardly instanced.

Planetside 1 was the most fun I ever had in a videogame and is probably the best game ever.

That being said; I dare not hope for Planetside 2.

SOE are idiots and the last article I really read was about they got rid of inventory management and now have fixed classes...

I daren't read any more news about the game after that.

 

I will wait till it is released and read some player reviews and go from there.

If I were making Planetside 2 it would be like Planetside 1 except a different game engine so you could change base lay-outs and such.

Different bases and some buildings/ruins scattered across the landscape also a save heaven against vehicles.

That's it actually; I would also make changes to damage and armour values and some other small stuff balncing things but that's a matter of taste.

I kept running into loading screens, my own instances, other instances of the same zone, overflow servers, battlegrounds and even the WvWvW PVP which isn't world PVP is in it's own instance.....

Just hated it.

Sadly its not going to be any good ,and im not talking abouth Ps2  im talking abouth the genre FPS none fps game is good and very enjoible now days  sadly all fps game are make equal tech on the making and it theyr furute keep making it same and same and because of that theres alwais going to be hackers it imposible  and im saying IMPOSIBLE to eliminate hackes completly .and tahts for the future of all fps . so why bother playing somthing u gonna regret and knowing theres going to be hackers. and thats another reason why mmofps game dont shine ever

I'm looking forward to playing this game. I really enjoyed PS1 and I'm having nostalgic thoughts about it right now. Ya!! I think im gonna resub.. I loved the team effort in this game. It's unparralel to any other game in the market to this date.

I think you are saying "all fps games will have hackers so what's the point in playing them' and after a recent stint in tribes:asc I can kind of agree but how is this different to any competative game out there. If that's the way you feel then there's going to be very little gameplay on your horizon beyond lan.

Unfortunately hackers are here to stay but so long as they make some effort to stop them I will wait and see (granted SOE track record of this in ps1 and more recently dcu - which was pretty much destroyed by hacking for me - is not good).

As for the 'don't shine' you need to pop along to yt and check out some vids, that's looking pretty shiny right there.

I try not to get overhyped for games I haven't beta'd before they come out.

 

In this case however, It's getting really really hard to do that.

 

I feel very confident that I'm going to love this game. If it can recreate the experience of Planetside 1 on a larger scale with modern FPS mechanics, that's all I will need. 

 

I have faith in SOE on this one. They are the only ones that have really pulled it off before in my opinion. They've got the experience and the technology to do it. 

 

This thing is going to be great.

I'm not nearly as cauticious about this title as I am / was about TSW and maybe not as confident as GW2 (But we've beta'd). Although most of their video cast about the project royaly suck. What they have shown of Forge Light engine is impressive. Combine that with my prior experiences with Planetside and I'm in probably 80% right now..

well, i was never a PS player, but i have been following PS2 news very closely

 

imagine this, whenever you log into the game, there is always a war that is going on, no matter what time you login, no matter what time zone you are in, total action 24/7

 

so yes, i think it;s going to be good, i can imagine the gameplay, how it is going to be, so i think it's a safe bet to have hopes on PS2

plus, i have seen the PS video on how players actually follow commands etc, which makes it even epic

and for the fact that it's F2P ( as far as i know ) which means lots and lots of players is going to play this game which even makes it better as i love Large scale open world game

Planetside 2 will not be perfect, and will have a good amount of issues down the road.

but for SOE to throw the gaunlet down on the other MMOFPS games, and build their own engine to boot,  id rather give them a real solid chance and consideration vs. some of the other companies/publishers that have been treating MMO's like business as usual.

biggest crime would be raping established IP for a quick money grab, with their end product being something that runs on the Hero Engine or has more instances than a player base.

I plan not going back to those days once PS2 goes full swing.

I totally agree. PS2 is looking really good and I hope it doesn't let us down. That said, I've been burned before on games I thought looked really good, so I'm trying to keep a healthy distance and not let my own hype for it get out of control.

Although I heard it was going to be F2P... Anyone know if that's correct?

The original was so much fun until they got into that whole OP battle mech thing. Really hoping they don't go down that route and stick more to the original vision.
