Very similar? u havn't played GW2. Standing in front of someone and tapping a 3 ring rotation of ever increasing skill tree powers is no where near dodging and situational combat decisions. With TW it comes down to area attack or straight attack, maybe distances. Thta's as complex s its going to get. Dungeons come down to traditional trinity dumb combat "look at me attack me i'm bigger, don't mind that guy healing or that guy attacking you".
As i've said before, there are folk who love the 10 percent of static puzzles in the game and will stay delusional propping it up the unfinished 90 percent of the game includion combat, physics and animation as well as flaweed rift on a quest hub system. The mix bag of ps2 style modern graphics (looks like a bad version of the Persona RPGs)

I don't know how long you've played TSW, but it looks obvious to me that it wasn't very long at all. There's more to combat than you describe and a hell of a lot more to its dungeons, situational combat decisions will be crucial. Btw, dodging will be ingame in various ways.
Look, it seems you dislike TSW and you like GW2. I don't see why you feel the need to trashtalk a game you have no intention of playing and make all kinds of speculations about its midterm and longterm gameplay while you haven't even really experienced much of it yet beyond the very first start. But if TSW isn't your game and you have all your MMO dreams pined on GW2, well, good for you, why not stick with GW2, eh? It's obvious that TSW has nothing to offer what you like, trying to paint TSW as black and as negative as you possibly can won't change your intention of not playing it anyway.

There's no confirmation of that. Unless your in CB and have seen it first hand, it's not proven. There are ineed dodge abilities, but nothing certain about a dodge button.
Have they decided to add an "active dodge" or is it still the kind of dodge where you see either an AOE or directional attack indicator on the ground and you strafe, backpeddle or walk out of it?
To me the word dodge implies some sort of active skill like rolling rather than a "move out of the fire" that people have been doing for years and years.
"Loading screens" are not "instances". Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

I was testing GW2 in closed beta thanks.. at the end of the day GW2 is just tab target combat with a bit added to it nothing special at all, if you think otherwise well each to their own LOL
I take it your in TSW closed beta then as youve tested the dungeons out as well?
So i take it you think GW2 no sorry Jesus 2 is the best game ever?
In my optinion its a well polished themepark MMORPG and does not bring anything really new to the table.. not a bad thing but to me im totally bored of it. TSW brings some nice enw features to the table, sure the combat system is your average themepark combat system with a few additions.. but the other things i really like.. puzzles and the world setting.. nice and refreshing..
But again ill say this we all like different things and Im glad of that otherwise we would all be plaing wow

This specific question edges dangerously into CB territory, so I doubt that you'll get an answer to that question, at least not one where the post won't get deleted in short time

Compared to Guild Wars 2 combat, I can only say that the combat in TSW leaves much to be desired. For example, take a look at this footage of a hammer warrior. If you look at it objectively and disregard the music and PvP scenario, you can tell that: not only are the animations better in Guild Wars 2, but the sounds and effects deliver impact whereas TSW is sorely lacking in these departments.
What are your thoughts?
TSW reminds me of Anarchy Online which was fun but it isn't what I'm looking for in a game.
I've seen many of TotalBiscuit's MMO reviews for various games and they (he and his friend) aren't usually so negative. They're usually laughing and joking and his videos tend to be extremely informative. It left me with the impression that he wasn't enjoying the game and didn't really want to do the review.
As to GW2, there's a whole forum on this site that talks about how great that game is so I won't repeat it here.

Until we get official confirmation, or a video, we can't take your word for it, sorry (at least i can't). And no, i'm not a hater of this game, read my posts.

In my opinion, combat is by far the weakest component of this game, which does have some interesting features. While I feel that there is too much meaningless combat in this game, if they at least make it more engaging it will help.

I can only recommend that you give it a try next beta, hopefully they'll have updated to the latest available patches for the BWE as well. Also it's good to keep in mind that the skill system has layers and depths to it that only open up after a while when you've gathered more skills and get a sense of the possibilities of the more complex skills and skill synergies.

I"m sorry, let me clarify. when i talk about the puzzles, i am talking about peole loving this game for 10 percent of the combat and its blinding you to the 90 percent, the unfnished combat, the shoddy animation, the uneven graphics.
Also, again, not sure if yuo read, but i don't like to talk about GW2 when talkinga bout tsw. This was something i hoped would be a second game. But the level of quality for tsw is repulsive. I mostly stay out, but when people start lauding the anamzing combat of rtsw, it's so ludacris you have to say WTF?
I don't expect any game in the near future to match the level of fun and inovation as GW2 in combat, so i don't bring it up. But i did hope it would at least out do TOR and Rift. Color swaps and poor wire animation is not what anyone expected.
I apologize if I don't meet your stereotype. I don't plan on comparing this game to tsw. TERA's a fare debate, i'll debate that with GW all day. But this game needs to get off level 1.
People talk about depth to a combat, and i havn't found anything that i havn't found done better in Rift. It's a very similar skill tree, I"d even argue to say its more robust, as it allows you to blend versions of several different classes (TSW= weapons)
TSW is less cartoony, but after feedback from the open beta they will add some more effects and such. The effects from GW2 combat would look just outright silly in the realistic graphics used in TSW, so I just hope they don't add too much effects. In mass battles all that shiny stuff just gets in the way.
In other words, I am all for adding functional effects - for instance to show that a patch of ground is on fire, or frost on a character to show she is frozen, or blood dripping to show a bleed effect. I am not for just adding a bunch of glittery effects that obstruct my view of what's happening.
Btw, nice of you to come over from the GW2 forums to tell us that TSW combat is all wrong.
yes, dodging and realistic physics would be silly in a modern game.
You're happy with characters that move like stiff manequins.
I never try to comnpare thi sgame to GW, it doesn't even reach the rift/tor levels. At minimum, that was what i was hoping.
The phsyics ofthis game is just not there. This game will be worth 50 +15 a month only to those who like solving rigid non impacting puzzles in game. "classic" i guess they call it.
Well your dodging is nothing but a jump to a side its silly to actually call that dodging since thats not how you normally would dodge in close combat fights you might jump into cover but thats about it so it really is far from being realistic (it is fun tho)
The physics are there mobs have an impact when hit and your character reacts to the weapons he uses now some ppl think its not enough since they believe a shotgun should kick back mobs several meters since thats what they saw in movies...if it would be like that it would be unrealistic and also destroy balancing.
The movement animations are a working progress but even if it would be the final stage it still looks a hell of a lot better than a Norn....seriously GW2 has this horrible Norn movements and yet GW2 fans come out and criticizes movement animations....lol
I do agree with you however on the point that we should not compare GW2 with TSW.
GW2 is a fun game with lots of flashy effects and some magic roll/dodge that prevents you from getting damage during your roll and the DE which can happen while you are at the location and if they do they are somewhat fun (most are just kill waves of mobs tho) and if you are unlucky and no event is happening while you are there you go feed cows/bears and so on.
TSW is a very complex game that does not need to hide behind flashy effects (even tho i think the effects in TSW are perfect for the setup it plays in) its not perfect but for me its the most fun i had in a long time and i have the hope that we finally will get an MMO again with a decent community (i can hope right...)
Both games have great potential and i think its clear that they do try to cater to a very different crowd so it boils down to personal taste
The underlying combat system in tsw is sound (and a fair bit like gw2) I much prefer it to wow/rift/swtor style combat.
The problem with the combat is the animations, they lack impact and weight. This is easier to fix than the fundamental design of the combat being wrong but the animations being "nice" - e.g. swtor or rift.
Originally posted by ShakyMo Total biscuit didn't have a f'kin clue what he was doing. Only using 1 weapon and standing still for a start.
For the record you can move while doing ALL attacks in tsw, even channels (unlike gw2)
You keep harping on the 2 weapon thing, as if that changes everything, but if it's so important, the game should show that to the player. How can you expect anyone to figure that out, during their first experience with the game? Yeah, they'll learn, if they like the game enough to stick with it, but more often, that first experience will also be their last.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Character progression
Experience a game with no classes or levels. Just total freedom of play.
Be whoever you want to be and play however you want to play. The Secret World is completely without classes and levels, allowing you to progress freely.
Wield Magic and Firearms
The powerful progression system allows you to pick and choose whatever powers you want, never restricted by class setups. You can acquire powers within anything from firearms to destructive magic, mix and match anything, or choose to specialize in a certain direction. Regardless of your choices, you will never be at a disadvantage and you can always play together with anyone you want to.
Some people like to figure out how things work. This game is being made with that in mind. You can either wait a few months until someone writes a guide for you to read or find a game already out there that tells you how to play the game every step of the way.

TBs playthrough was a joke. Anybody who has an iota of game experience, particularly with Rift knows that you'll at least want two finishers to use up both resources.
In many cases, you can use one weapon for all of your active skills, but one, saving that one as your secondary weapon finisher (some finishers don't require weapons).
While it is possible to use builders with different weapons, it often isn't optimal (early in the game), because your passives generally only augment one particular builder/finisher. That changes later on when certain weapon skills apply debuffs thar synergize with other weapon skills.
It's really not hard to figure out. It seemed to me that TB was deliberately being obtuse in that video.

Cash shop that converts cash to gold

What parts did you like because I looked into TSW and couldn't find anything redeeming about the game.
For the love of anything that you hold dear...
STOP taking random videos as fact.
Play the game and see if it's something you like, watch way more videos, check more references, then you can make a smart judgement.
I hope that TSW will be awesome, from what i've seen so far it's not for me, but i hope it will be, the IP is very interesting.
