Just before you think I don't understand or agree with you (unfortunately I do).

The Elder Scroll Online is HORRIBLE. Not because it plays like Skyrim (get a clue would you?) but because it's going to play like WoW / DAoC.

It's going to be 3rd Person View (unlike Skyrim)

It's going to have classes (unlike Skyrim)

It's going to have a UI like WoW (unlike Skyrim)

So, we both agree TES Online sucks... but we also have different reasons why we think so.

There's not a single MMORPG worth playing. Not GW2, not even Copernicus which died before its birth.

There was one hope; World of Darkness but unfortunately CCP laid off most of the team working on it.

Maybe Pathfinder Online; but I doubt it.

Every other title announced is not going to do it... for me at least. (including TES Online).

If you are confusing the word "scripted content" for "features", then themeparks have more of it than sandboxes, but Skyrim has more of it than any themepark.

Come back down to Earth, seriously.

But I can see from the tone of your post that the only reason you have this absurd idea of what a sandbox is is because you have some sort of issue with sandbox gameplay.   You're last sentence clearly shows that you would prefer to chase carots instead of growiing your own.

what? using that logic, all Themepark MMO are now Sandbox, because I can run off and do whatever I want to instead of endgame raiding 24/7....

HEY EVERYBODY RIFT AND GW2 ARE SANDBOX MMO!!! SPREAD THE WORD!!!!....

    /end sarcasm

addressing that last part of your post.

sorry but Carrot on the Stick, is only in the head. You can have fun regardless. in Skyrim, you could say, getting stronger was your carrot on the stick. logic applies here. its alll in the head. I can play the way I want to. thats not what makes a game themepark or not.

Sandbox are known for player made content. Skyrim's only Sandbox element comes from the open PC version of the game's modding. thats it.... nothing gameplay wise about Skyrim is sandbox. its themepark.

Therein lies your problem.  You're not actually using any logic.  You're entire arguement apparently boils down to, I don't like it therefore it is.  Which would also explain why another poster wouldn't be in the same reality as yours.

Two of my nephews are staying the night tonight.  Instead of arguign with you, I can go argue with them.  When they stick their fingers in there ears and start with the "nyah, nyah, nyah, I can't hear you!!!!"  I can gently smack them on the back of the head and tell them to go away.

Having that same arguement with a 31 year old adult is just pointless.

I really disliked Skyrim.  However 50 person servers with perma death would probably make me very interested in it.

Yeah it's single player, but watch this mod closely.  The Oblivion version of it was a blast to play, even if the base game sucked.  Thank you Ian Patterson for slaving away at a script extender!

The amount of cheese in Skyrim is incredible. It's the thing I steal the most, since it looks incredible. No themepark MMO has ever come with a better depiction of sliced cheese.

Not really possible, you need to at least START with a game that supporst multiplayer before you can start making multiplayer mods.

Your not going to add in playable multiplayer support without the source code.  The modding tookit is not the source code.  All the half assed attempts at building multiplayer to date are totally impractical inefficient solutions.

dont be a noob.. everyone knows when you play an elder scroll you HAVE to steal each and every sweet roll that isnt nailed down... cause its a freaken sweet roll :O rofl

@op i dont think a DayZ style mod would work on skyrim.. while there are mods for more companions and tower defense style mods.. a MP mod really wont work too well.  i do know there is a MP mod for skyrim but from what i read on it, its buggy and may not work correctly (not suprizing as skyrim is a SP-RPG not a MP-RPG.

the best you can hope for is a semi-perma death zombie mod but not a MP one like dayZ. as frankly i dont think skyrim could support it correctly.

    doesnt make sense....

Skyrim is Themepark RPG by design. So boring. Only thing interesting about Elder Scroll games on consoles has been the Open World feel to them. thats it.

the gameplay is a bore. Nothing about the gameplay is better or even close to that found in a standard themepark MMORPG.

sad but a reality. most of you that keep asking for a sandbox TES MMO, dont realize what you are asking for....

Whats so interesting about Arma 2? The Dayz mod dropped 50 people on a large map, turned pvp perma death mode on and added in zombies. While you wouldnt do the zombie thing with Skyrim you can just increase the difficulty of the monsters.

Honestly you do nothing in Day Z but roam around and survive as long as you can. This can't be done in Skyrim to the same effect?

BECAUSE,,, its no longer Skyrim if you do all this. why not make a game built around that kind of gameplay. Because what you are asking for, is noting to do with TES games. So whats the point of using TES IP at all?

Day Z mod has nothing to do with Arma 2 either. Its a conversion mod. Why use the TES IP or skyrim engine? Because Skyrims world is massive and amazing, the combat is suited for multiplayer (Fps, Manual targetting), The class system is open ended... DUDE ITS FREAKING SKYRIM!!!!!

I get that you dislike Skyrim but a DayZ mod for that game would be much cooler than some rag tag team making a mmo.

    Playing: Nothing

    Looking forward to: Nothing

Skyrim online with full looting (everything drops upon death) would be insane.

That's what we were all hoping for with the announcement of TESO. Unfortuntely after hearing the podcast, they are making a stupid ass wow/GW2 clone with a totally different (noob 3rd person) engine...

So it's going to be a totally different game.

    :(

Skyrim is fine as it is... I have no desire to share that space with randoms, especially 50 of them.

I certainly do not want PvP in my Skyrim

I would rather someone ripped the car combat heart out of Rage and made a Car Wars/ Interstate '76  mod out of that personally.

I loved Skyrim, would have been a bit too epic if you could play with one other person, let alone around 50, but I don't care for a skyrim mmo or mod over the entire elder scrolls.

I may be alone but I look forward to seeing Tamriel in its full splendor (or close to it) and see the lore and world connected. I'd love if Skyrim (the engine) had all of tamriel available for exploration AND we could play with up to 50+ people in that living, breathing world (similar to skyrim) but I'll settle for the ability to learn and explore tamriel.

Skyrim Online is a fantastic idea but TESO has much more potential, imo.

PS: Skyrim, imo, will probably remain ahead of TESO in terms of immersion simply because it feels more real then the normal mmo command setup (will need more options and faster usage of abilities, if mmo), TESO also has to have a real living world to compare to skyrim aswell.

That's one project I'd probably not be interested in.

On the other hand, TESO is sort of growing on me. It's obviously not "Skyrim Online" or even "Morrowind Online", but it seems to have a mind to quite a few of the things I care about in MMOs.

Though of course ultimately it's not the features that make a game, it's the implementation - so I guess we'll see about that when we see about that. :)

If Skyrim is an 9 out of 10 for an RPG perfection (which for me it is). Then Darkfall (an MMO) is a 7 out of 10 and is the closest thing for me to a TES MMO out there. What would make a 10 out of 10 is the Skyrim online with Darkfall seige mechanics. At that point I would feel computer RPGs have hit the sweet spot.
