Downloading annoying. Getting ****ing tedious!

I tried most of the morning today to download this game. Im quite interested but there just so much to get. Buy and donwload Arma 2 and the other one then im assuming you have to update them but what is the latest patch??

Anyway my gripe has happened before this as now the mainsite i downloaded from is giving me this error/.....

ERROR:UID is not authorized

I stilll need to download the second part before even looking at patches or even Day-z.

 

Getting a bit like hard work this to be fair.

Yeah, This can get frustrating as hell at times. There are several different versions of the game running and also several different versions of the mod. Finding a compatible server to your game and mod version can be a little tricky at times.

From installation to gameplay, nothing about DayZ is easy. I can tell you that all you need to do is download and install Arma II with Operation Arrowhead. The easiest way to acquire them online is through Steam. Don't worry about updating them to specific versions, just leave them alone. After you have them both installed, launch both games up until you reach initial menu screens, and exit them. Then, download and extract all of the appropriate DayZ files, which can be found on their website (top left roll-over link, see the walkthrough video link for specifics). The files available are currently in v1.7.0, though I believe there are still 1.6.0 servers. Make you sure you know which version of DayZ you have installed, because you'll need to join servers of the same version number. Here's a direct link to the DayZ zip's you'll need for the modification to work. All of them are necessary, except for the changelog.txt:
