well its official. DayZ will be running close to being a stand alone game when Arma 3 launchs! So far the mod has gave the Arma2 game the most sales ever in the past 1-2 months than the original game has ever had. Personally i think this game is the best zombie survival game out there no questions asked. and to put a cherry on top...its going to be a border line MMO! 100-200 people per server! with a HUGE supposibly 2 times as big as its current world is.
All i can say is screw GW2 DayZ is now my top of the list most anticipated and waited for game....
"The creator of DayZ and Bohemia Interactive employee, Rocket, has been instructed by Bohemia to work on the mod full-time. That’s according to an account of a fan who chatted with him at E3 earlier today, spotted by Craig over on the DayZ subreddit. The account says that Rocket believes that DayZ is “the first step towards Bohemia gearing up to make it into a full standalone game.”
He goes on to say that Rocket talked about having already ported the mod over to the Arma 3 engine, and that “it works great.” Rocket also reportedly said that DayZ has been tested internally with the new tech, and can “handle 100-200 players easily” on a server."

That's great, it definitely is, but I do hope that BIS optimizes ARMA III's engine to the fullest. I mean despite having a machine that is way above the recommended specs for ARMA II (and ARMA III), my computer just cannot play DayZ with more than 30 or so players.
And with all the new features and gameplay mechanics.. yikes.
But that'd be cool if he gets a full game out of this. I can't wait until DayZ is more developed. New maps? New weapons? Different kind of zombies? Better gameplay mechanics? So awesome.

Really looking forward to that day, but for now I enjoy this version of DayZ to my hearst content
Oh yeah... It'll definitely take off once it gets flesh out with a full feature set. After a few weeks it's just become sniping people from rooftops and hills.
Well this is all rumor as of yet as we haven't heard anything officially from BIS concerning DayZ so it's all from small talk at the BIS booth at E3. I hope it is all true however as Dean Hall has really shaken things up with this mod. He's basically proven that things like harsh death penalties, full loot PvP and hardcore gameplay can not only sell but top the sales charts if packaged right within a game. ArmA 2 is still the number one seller on Steam because of DayZ and has been for well over a month now. BIS has a real winner on their hands not only with the ideas presented in this mod but also in it's creater Dean "Rocket" Hall. I hope they give him all he needs to make this wonderful game into a fully fleshed out reality.

I would be stoked if they would build a urban city map for Day Z like a metro area of New York City or some other major city, down to detail would be cool to run around have plenty of buildings to hide in lots of exploration and goodies to find
I wonder why the devs don't just throw their full weight on a dayz game, I think we all know that the market is there for this sort of game, ArmaII is still on the steam top 10 list for how many weeks now? Christ, who cares about arma III, we want zombie survival!
Also I will second the above poster, zombie survival needs metropolitan areas, dead island lost the ball on this one and the left 4 dead games are too linear.
Been waiting for this sort of zombie game since forever, upcoming years should be interesting, the publishers should take wind of all the money involved in these sort of games.
I want ARMA3. The guys that have followed the "Milsim" subgenre of FPS gaming want ARMA3. Not to mention the developers have already been working on ARMA3 for a while now.
- Operation Flashpoint has lost its way as a "Milsim" compared to the original Operation Flashpoint in the early 2000's.
The guy that made DayZ is among the developers in Bohemia Interactive, former members of the original Operation Flashpoint and current developers of the ARMA series. DayZ's maker is one of the newer members of recent, though I do hope he got a raise for putting ARMA front and center in popularity.
I do foresee them taking advantage of this popularity, or at least make it even easier to support if with ARMA3's engine. Mods are not strangers with the ARMA series.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." I can't get Arma 2 to work. Appcrash CTD EVERY time. The little splash with the checks pops up and BAM. Happens on OA and Arma 2... no luck even remotely getting INTO DayZ. Working on comp #3 atm. If this doesn't work I'm asking for my money back.
