It is much much harder now to get up and running with the current equipment layout you start with, this is not necessarily a bad thing, I do enjoy a bit of challenge, but when I want to join up with some friends and we are trying to find eachother it gets much harder specially if you aggro a zombie, there is no way to shake it off, also I have noticed a bit more rubber banding on the zombies, so sometimes they hit you from really far away so you cant really effectively visually decide whether to stand your ground or run in most occasions.

Another thing not really related to the weapon but its the broken bones mechanic, that has to be broken at the moment, you basically get hit, even just a bad collision while moving about with another player and you end up with a broken bone, not only that but you ALWAYS break your legs it seems so once that happens your stuck crawling if you werent lucky enough to have some morphine, that needs to change maybe some whole body status rather than just broken bone means you have broken your legs, add to that the fact that melee weapons are pretty useless when combined with zombie rubber banding and your stuck trying to avoid zombies that aggro through walls until you get morphine and a weapon.

Until all of this is fixed they need to give you a more effective weapon to begin with.

Yeah the broken bones thing is getting adjusted at some point soon, as is bleeding, currently you can get hit once by a zombie and start gushing blood, usually by the time you get to bandage you have lost 2000-3000 blood from one hit. Personally i would rather they hit harder than make you bleed every time, its not every realistic to start bleeding everytime something punches or grabs you.

I have managed to break a bone and more or less kill myself on a couple of occasions by just trying to crawl through doorways with no zombies in sight.

Having played the game a lot and got quite proficient at surviving it was a bit of a struggle the last time i died and respawned without a pistol it does make the game a little bit more challenging at the start.

I think one of the things that needs to be addressed especially right at the start before you have found a gun is how easy Zombies detect you when you are inside a building, I have been on the 1st floor in a factory going along a walk way when i hear the sound of a zombie outside the building that has detected me, I then watch it slowly enter the building and start heading over to the stairs so it can come up and get me. other times i have been inside houses hardly moving and they manage to hear me.

This is quite annoying, I have been in the same situation, where me and 2 friends were basically in the middle of nowhere and I just basically went up the ladder on a deer stand and as the collision was resolved when I climbed up I broke a bone, now that is just annoying, cause for no reason whatsoever the game is ruined, we had no morphine and miles off any kind of supply place, so I just had to sit around while they went off for about 40min to try and find some morphine and come back, now I love the whole setting, its fine, you know leave the injured guy behind and go and fecth medication but over stupid stuff like crawl over a rock just needs addressing.

I am ok without the pistol actually been doing pretty well now witht he current strategy, but I know what you mean about zombies through walls, was going into a warehouse, found some nice equipment, then suddently see a whole pack of zombies chasing after me in the warehouse for no reason, was literally crawling inside the building and the building was full of barbed wire ( seems like zombies can just walk through barbed wire aswell pretty annoying ), luckily there were two guys coming in and they aggroed the zombies away so I just made a swift escape.

Tormented echoes of a fallen Eden
    I longed for her beauty
    Yet from dust, she returned
    The dream, an enigma.... silent

Haha, I was in a warehouse the other day with all doors closed and a group of 6 zombies just walked through the closed door shambling towards me.

There is something wrong with pistols as loot currently as well, I find way more enfields, shotguns, AKM's than I do pistols. Since this change I have only found 2 makarovs, about 300 truck loads of makarov ammo, and no other pistols at all. Before this change I used to find a reasonable amount of pistols that varied from the makarov.

Would be fine with it after all you usually find a hachet pretty quick.  But since so much of the community are serial killers out the gate and a hachet does nothing to help you defend youself from a  human picking you off from range I pretty much lost interest in the game.   The only time I've had people try to work with me is when I have guns and they are without.  Suddenly they want to be best buddies which translates into you protecting them at your own expense.  Good idea for game poorly implemented.  If you allow people to behave like animals they will.  The zombies are beyond broken as well.  Why put doors on buildings if they freely walk thru them?

Yeah pretty much no one is camping the coast it is a complete waste of time and ammo, the new player spawns with that little gear that the kill is pointless. The cities are death traps but that's how they should be. All you really need to do to survive is hit a few barns as soon as possible and that will usually net you a hatchet, a drink and hopefully a gun.

I had some issues with thirst but now I have a tent stocked with food and drink so if I am struggling I hop on to the server it's on and venture away to get some, usually end up looting a supermarket on the way and adding to my collection of drinks.

Much steeper learning curve without the gun, but still very enjoyable.
