Am I mistaken in that I thought this was an Alpha build (?) and that persistant and much larger (than 50 people) servers will eventually be coming. That would solve your issues I would imagine.
Or have I heard an incorrect rumor?
i actually truly hope they don't do this, unless they enlarge the map by 1000% or something.
i have played arround 12 hours so far and i've seen 2 players. that is exactly how a game like this should feel, utter and almost complete desolation. it should be mostly about you trying to survive alone with the knowledge that other survivors in the world do exists but you chances to encounter them should be rare at best. that is the perfect setting for such a game.
i do believe that when you start seeing 20+ people constantly fighting over every larger weappons/food source, while arround every street corner there is a dude trying to run you over on his newly fixed car this game will be ruined. it will then become a zombie themed ABP.

no thanks.
The map is huge though, 50 people is nothing, I think they could up it to 100-150 if they changed the player spawning, currently everyone is spawning at certain points on the beach near the two bigger cities. If they use the whole map for random spawning then the 100 or more players will be more spread out.
I am on day 6 of being alive now and for the last 3 days I have not seen a single person, the last people I saw were killing eachother in cherno, i watched it through my binoculars, I was exploring inland and it was pretty desolate so came to the coast hoping to find someone I can help but like I said before they are already grouped up and using skype or whatever in most servers.
I'd be all for official servers not run by individuals then you may get 50 randoms and organic groups forming, currently almost every server I go in is a bunch of regulars just doing there thing in a massive group.
yes 100/150 might still be all right (i dont actually know the exact size of the map), but by today's standards 100 people cap on a server is not really considered an true mmo. WoW servers usually take a few thousand people and DF was rumored to be able to handle up to 10,000 players. EvE has 40,000+....i'm not sure what ABP can handle but it must be at least 500+ people and thier zones are tiny.
those are the numbers i absolutely want to avoid. i think the feeling of desolation should be an integral part of this game, and this can only be achieved by maintaining a very low players/space ratio. without it it will only turn into a full loot, instant kill battleground that just happens to have zombies in it.
The mod is amazing, MMO's could learn alot from this, this mod is what many gamers have been looking for for a long time that MMO's as yet, have notdelivered.
The games playerbase hasnt stopped growing since I started playing it a month ago, and with the new updates the game will only get better.
I will be a long time player DayZ so long as they keep on the track of NOT catering to easy gameplay, it should stay at its difficulty and imo only get more difficult and cutthroat.

DayZ just exploded with 1 new player.
May the zombies treat Alot mercifully...
anything is possible. i personally watched some streams of people playing it but i will not be as i don't like the full PVP aspect.
