reversed time servers?

SephrosSephros Member UncommonPosts: 429

Is there currently a way to tell if a server has day / night reversed without logging in?  I am not able to play this game until later in the evening california time, and I was able to find 1 server with decent ping, that wasnt completely pitch black. Although it was not sunny either.  Hopefully there is a way to know without logging in and out of each server to find one.

When you click on a server it will tell you the server time at the bottom of the screen in GMT +/- however many time zones. It takes a little math but you can figure it out. For example GMT -5 would be an east coast server and would mean it would get dark around 9-10PM EST. There are some US servers that offset the time so it stays light later and the server time reflects that.

I do not see this at the bottom of the screen.  I can see it in the description of the server but not all servers tell you which time zone they are on.

You really can't until you log in and check.  Usually you can tell by the amount of people playing on said server.  If it's above 30, your chances are very good that it is a daytime server at night.

True, my mistake. It is however in the description for a lot of servers (not all unfortunately).

It is my experience that most servers do not list their time zone.  But, some do.

He is planning on implementing that at some point but like everything else in DayZ this will be a player run mechanic. A player or group of players will have to fix a station in game to get it running again. They will also have to maintain it because it will break down eventually. He also wants to implement generators to light smaller encampments. This may be a long ways down the road however as he wants to get the base game working well first before he starts putting more sandbox features in. I imagine he will be working on Zombie AI and player killing glitches for while yet before he starts on anything else.

Many of the admins put the server time in the name/description of the server, which helps when wanting to pick a lower pop server.
