SV posted another update on the progress of Awakening, this time giving some details on the trade broker system, as well as some insight into illegal items, which includes a video.
They've also included some screenshots that show some of the differences in detail between the live and test versions of the game..

Very glad to hear more about the broker system. Overall, I think this is one type of system that the game really needed.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

i can already hear teh cries of players that got killed by a warring guild while the stupid guards were all spamming options at him..
the ideas are all very cool, but the bugs....oh the bugs will be a nightmare....
Since they didn't mention scenario where player is found innocent, I take it as guards will only aggro those who posses potential illegal items.
Interesting system, usually you have an option to give up the illegal items and go to jail or pay a fine, but here you get executed on the spot. Will be fun listening to QQ when owner of the town changes once again and will ban some common spell, wonder how everyone will keep track of what is banned. Now to mention, how realistic is it that guards know what spells or skills one uses.
MO, "sandbox" where guards posses xray vision
I dont think players can set what items are illegal even if they govern the city for the tindremic people. I beleive the illegal goods will be set that way and will always be the same goods.
What annoyed me about the video mostly was predictiion. In grikes recent quote about beta he said prediction was perfect now but looking at that video it was terrible and looked like nothing had changed.
Im not sure i like the illegal goods system guards should do random spot checks asking to view a players inventory. It seemed to me like the guard simply knew the palyer had an illegal item and i also didnt like the threaten option which imo should be replaced with loose item and pay fine.
The trade broekr sounds great and im liking the improved textures but the illegal goods system look poorly thought out.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
They rushed the system, same as they did with thievery and lots of other advanced systems. Then again, I guess we will know better once its live, it's still time to make changes and maybe they didnt tell all there is to it. I am however not surprised at the broker, that was obvious from get go that their strategy of "player only" trading wont work out. It is sure a welcomed addition to trading tools.
You apparently didn't read.
How would somebody know an item was stolen just by looking at it?
in reality a guard isnt going to have a clue what msot herbs are etc and in the past i highly doubt anything plant wise was considered illegal until the 1900s

I have a lot of plants in mind, that are considered illegal as we speak but its not the place nor the time to discuss about them
I did, but feel free to point out where I am wrong rather then posting a "lol no" kneejerk reaction comment which isnt helpful in the slightest.
prediction still not fixed
for what need illegal items, mobs, ect. if anyone can kill me 20 meters away?
To keep Tizio excited :P
the only thing i noticed about prediction was the second guy running across the rocks on his way to town that looked like a prediction issue and not lag to me. Otherwise there was no combat shown since their recent supposed prediction fix so ill hold my judgement on claiming it isnt fixed but it certainly didnt look fixed.

the force, first, understand u must, before killing at a distance, your enemy, you shall....:P
Haha
Nothing? Thought so.
Actually I didn't see that you had replied. Town owners don't decide what are illegal items sooooo.....you didn't read. Kthxbye
Edit: Grammar
Hm, true. I misunderstood that the ruler of town is able to set that, as he is able to set some stuff for city broker. That's a wise choice on SVs part. Still, there are several other valid points such as no less hostile option, nor explanation to gaurds xray vision :P
when i asked that question i sort of got mixed responses and alot of shrugs from the testers. But heres my interpretation. I bleieve the guards says halt, walks over to the palyer if the player has nothing the guard simply walks off. But if the palyer has something illegal then the popup then appears.
this was certainly not clear in the video and caused alot of confusion from the community.

Sorry but I just can't shrug the feeling that all of this complex programming is just way beyond Starvault's programming skillz...
And game design skills.
Also, what happens when a player runs from a guard?
well im sure those who try the game will find the answer to that when awakening launches. But its obviously rational to be skeptical considering how ts gone previously.
bleeive they go grey. if they run from a guard after 10 seconds or something.

Agreed.
"In MO, even the haters are hardcore!" - ltank
You believe that. Is there any reason to believe that except wishful thinking?
Even if it's true: That will just result in everyone surrounding players who get approached by guards, either to stop from completely from moving until they go grey, after which they can kill and loot them, or to chase them.
Guard approaches player > crowd gathers. Remaining 20 Stockholm syndrome fanboys will rejoice anyway.
Sounds just as shit as thievery in MO.
I really wanted to like this game, but much like DF, everything they add, or say they will, just sounds crap. This is no exception, this is utter wank. Has nothing to do with anything anybody I know ever joined MO for, and serves nothing other than to piss in a players face.
This game does that a lot, I think I may have seen the devs in a few dodgy pornos getting practice.
horses piss on players faces. you mad about that happening to you ?:P
Rly can`t be taken serious when saying everything they want to add is total crap. How it tuns out is another thing though...
They have a pretty long list of things they are implementing with awakening, some of them i don`t care about, but some i am very excited about.
