Version 1.7.1.1 is live! (Version 1.7.1.4 is the new hotfix)

As some of you may already know version 1.7.1 had some real issues. Version 1.7.1.1 seems to fix a lot of these. Here are the notes:

 

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.1 Rolling Update

HOTFIX : 17 JUNE 2012

Affected addons:
* dayz_code 1.7.1.1
* dayz_server (only for server admins)

Developer's Note:
* Performance issues were associated with loot cleanup not working. This has been fixed.
* Each time you start a new character, you will get the gender selection dialog.
* INFECTED AND LOOT RESPAWN IS STILL QUITE BUGGED. NEEDS ALOT OF WORK. BUT IT SHOULD BE MANAGEABLE NOW.

Changelog:
* [FIXED] Server item cleanup error (thanks Dwarden for identifying)
* [FIXED] Server weighted random object error (thanks Dwarden for identifying)
* [REVERT] 5 second delay for disconnecting (will need to wait till new method developed)
* [REVERT] Disabling of interior raycasting (will mean some buildings you will be invisible/can't be hit in for the moment as they don't have view LODs)
* [REVERT] Infected sight based on head not body direction (infected glace around alot, this meant that they had super view directions. Now locked at body direction)
* [FIXED] Area not checked for existing infected before spawning new ones ("blind faith" that it had not made a mistake didn't work)
* [FIXED] Crippling performance issues caused by loot items never being cleaned up (loot now cleaned up)
* [FIXED] Tent pitching (Who the hell codes tent location checks TWICE before pitching? Oh apparently I do)
* [NEW] Marakov spawn rate increased
* [NEW] Small chance Mararov ammo will spawn on an infected
* [FIXED] Converting magazines didn't work if you had MORE than one of that magazine type (now works as intended)
* [NEW] Tweaked audibility and visibility values for kneel walking
* [REVERT] Secret nerf of prone (you noticed)
* [NEW] Can select gender for each new character
* [FIXED] Toolboxes aren't spawning (classname error in loot table)
* [NEW] Small tweaks to AI zombie routines to improve performance
* [REVERT] New spawn timer mechanism (back to the old one for now)

    Yeah that game is hard as hell now and added a crap load of bugs with the zeds. They swarm from everywhere, seems like they come from a mile away and you have no gun to start with. Now they hit you threw the walls and come threw the floors.

    I get alot more loading screens forever now too.

    Some of those issues are addressed in the 1.7.1.1 version. It is an Alpha state mod so you have to be patient while the devs do a lot of trial and error to get things right. Especially when they try to overhaul major game systems like Zombie AI which they are trying to do now. Lets face it the zombies were not even any threat at all before. This is one of the reasons the game devolved into "ArmA 2 deathmatch arena with zeds" after the last major update. They are trying to get the balance back where the zombies are as much a threat as other players. It's going to take some tweaking so we all have to be patient.

    I really don't like how they increased their strength.  Half the fun was running from them, and now it seems like they 1 shot you quite often.   I definitely preferred random chance to knock you out.  However, a lot of these changes are great.   Sure they are buggy, but last few logins have been a much better experience.   I don't constantly get my face shot off when approaching another player.

    Yeah I understand that, they werent a threat at all before. Guess they will be patching this week to try to find a good balance. It is extremely hard now lol. I died a few times after my first step, they came in waves at me.

    i didnt get to play yesterday. horrible experience trying to patch lol. today though i got to play for a few hours. game really has not changed all that much. people still murder people. zombies are slightly harder. have not had to respawn yet with the reduced starter gear. im still on the fence about that issue. 

     

    So all in all. Just another day of Survival.

    1.7.1.2 is live and its broke now lol, needs another fix. Servers keep crashing from the crowbar and hatchet melee items respawning over and over again.

    Looks like he is working on 1.7.1.3, but all servers keep crashing still for now. Will have to check back later

    They are releasing version 1.7.1.3 to the download mirrors while I type this. This supposedly will fix the server crash issues due to the Melee weapon duping bug. It will also fix Melee weapons doing a "Fus Ro Dah" effect on anything they come into contact with (Although this was comic gold...LOL). The hotfix should be available now but I'd hold off a bit downloading it as the mirror sites are going to be congested the next few hours.
