Brilliant Funcom - Thanks so much !!

Have to say this was the best beta experience I have ever had. So far the Secret World is brilliant - creative, innovative and very polished. The execution, story line and graphics are second to none. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thank you so much.

And a major brownie point to whoever did the soundtrack.. awesome backround music/vocals throughout the game. The cut scene story-line narrative is ironic, humorous and challenging, with depth. Awesome ! State of the art.

ITs a great game, but it will struggle for 3 reasons.

First. Funcom has a bad rep beause of age of conan.

Second, People are to stupid to understand the quest system and will ask it to be easier.

Third, people wont understand the skill system well enough to make it work for them.

Funcom is going for niche crowd so i doubt they will change things just to please the masses..well because they are not going for masses. Come on they had like three servers for beta comapre that to amount of servers for GW2 and SWTOR. TSW has already found its niche audeince. A small and stable community is much better than aiming for millions and fall flat on your face after few months.

So it won't be because of the many faults the game has. No ofcourse not, it will be because people are stupid... right...

    How about things like:
    Animations are awkward.
Cutscenes detach you from your character by being one sided.
It's still a linear themepark despite them tooting levelless.
Main cities are soulless and dead due to being filled with mannequins.
Replayability will be a problem for most people.

Polish and improved combat is what they currently need.

Don't know what game you have been playing but it surely wasn't TSW or you don't understand the term linear.

Being so story driven makes it feel very linear.   Seems to me that's exactly what they were going for, but I think it's also the real reason behind why people say it feels like it should be a single-player game.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

Combat has improved a shed load since the last beta, I was really happy with the way Funcom have moved things on...

TSW has some interesting ideas and I loved the atmosphere and story, but the execution is awful, as usual for Funcom.

The overall gameplay is bad, very very bad - and MMO players want smooth, clutch feeling gameplay, which TSW does not have.

The game needs a good 9-12 months of fixing before it's ready for release.

     What? The hell it was.

While I had fun with the game I don't see how anyone can say the game is "very polished"

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

[mod edit]  I'm happy I was able to play this weekend.

I came in not really expecting a whole lot (I only wanted to play for the PVP) but the quests will likely make me buy this game. I cant even believe Im saying this, but yeah, the whole thing reminds me of the old Sierra adventure games.

The above is my personal opinion. Anyone displaying a view contrary to my opinion is obviously WRONG and should STHU. (neener neener)

    - the game has terrible presentaiton.

Must be the first and last time I can agree with Slavoj Zhizhek. Yup, TSW is a good game.

I think that's because the game director of TSW, Ragnar Tornquist, is also behind the puzzle adventure games The Longest Journey and Dreamfall image

Ragnar was involved a bit into Anarchy Online also. The whole dev team sounds promising. I agree with the somehow "dodgy" quality of some aspects of the game (combat mechanics) but just the feeling that the devs Know what they're doing combined with the fact that it won't attract the "regular" MMO crowd makes the game a great buy.

Would also like to say thank you :)

Been playing mmos for 20 years now, and now im starstruck! Finaly :) Was hoping for SWtor, TSW or GW2 as I was growing tired of the genre, SWtor failed was ok but not enough. GW2 beta also okey (but canseled my buy after trying TSW, as it didnt even reach it to the knee)

An mmo so awesome I could only dream about, im in closed beta and enyoing every second of it :) And with all the settings on full it looks amazing, other mmos looks like tetris compared to it!

TSW has 1 sever tech. Everyone can play in the same game space like EVE. The game is broken into deminsion (Think traditional servers) soley for the persitant PvP.  You are able to move freely in between those deminsions. There is no need for 200 servers, or transfers for that matter.

This time next year I think TSW will be at 1 mill with slow staedy growth.
