Guild Wars 2 and Customer Service

Hi All

I have been a member of this community since 2002 and as such have played a few MMORPG's in my life.

This also means that i am not a young buck at 15-16 years old, im actually 30 and i rarily play games now, but i do make room for one game every now and then.

The customer service within Guild Wars 2 during the beta has been awful, bugs have been reported time and time again, and ignored, threads have been merged without an answer being given.

I wont be playing Guildwars 2 because my integrity is worth me then playing their game, and company who doesnt look after their customers is a company i do not intend to do business with.

I probebly will not influence to many of you but as a memnber of of this community i feel that i have to give you a warning at least because this game will suck your wallet dry even though it markets it self as being "free"

I get that you might have a beef with CS but 'sucking my wallet dry'? Look, it's 2012. We all know that when a game says it's free that it just means that it has no sub (GW2 is B2P actually). We get that it will have a cash shop. We get that it may cost us money. There really is no need to shout about 'free' from the rooftops. We already know these things.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

If you actually got customer service during a beta then you should consider yourself very very lucky. If you didn't get any customer service then that is par for the course during the beta process.

So I'm not the only one who thinks that didn't make sense

Why did you need to use half the post saying how old you are? Makes no sense to me......

Well you can report bugs but they cant respond with a thank you everytime, customer service agents are usually very busy and it isnt their policy to respond to bug reports since their is really nothing to say.  You are a beta tester, you play their games beta, in exchange you report a bug if you find one :)

If they are in anyway smart and im betting they are, all their bug reports are pooled into a report that shows what areas are being reported most with issues and action is then taken further down the line by the developers.

I havent spent time on their forums so I dont know what their community interaction is like so I cant comment on that but I hope someone else can.

I work in a Information systems field, that 'fields' (get it, get it) a lot of feedback about bugs and whatnot.  There are times where our developers can act quickly, and there are others that sound simple but require a lot of coding.  Sometimes it's not a matter of ignoring something, but it taking a while to code/fix/etc.  I would imagine that they will also not provide feedback on the suggestions of everything.  They are receiving thousands of bug reports, and can't report on them all.  Some of the larger, high volume complaints sure... but for the most part you won't here much.  Might not be the case here, but I believe it may be at least a part of it... I hope.

it's beta.  they are collecting data from hundreds of thousands of people.  you may actually be 30 but "buck" up and quit acting like a 15-16 year old.  also they market the game as buy-to-play not "free".

How is my wallet being sucked dry?

    "Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

So you know for a fact that bug reports are being ignored? Do you expect the bugs to be fixed as soon as they were reported?  You do realize that possibly a couple hundred thousand people played during the beta weeked if any were like me they reported bugs left and right atleast 50 and much more during the first BWE.  I actually found the forums to be well maintained and they communicated very clearly what they wanted us to know, you can't expect evey question to get answered like I said before there were possibly hundred of thousands of posts.  The merging is just an attempt to keep all the simliar information in one spot.  I can tell you that with the cash shop if I have done my math correctly you will spend 45-50 bucks to get all the account features, which is equal to three months of subscriptions , which is the average time it take an mmo player to decide wether or not they will stick with an MMO.  ALSO I had a problem with my second key for my wife which I bought from gamestop when the main site sold out, and customer service was very helpful they helped me get the key activated and working as I paid for it.  They even sent me a personal email apologizing for the inconvience.  I am very pleased with Anet they have shown that not only did they make a great game they are also a part of its community and work and play with us as peers which after the EA/BW responses of "we know what we're doing" is very much welcomed.  Keep it up Anet you guys are the bees knees

There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?

Actually in exchange I payed them money ;) Anyhow your completly right. Because while testing your a tester and not only a consumer. The forums are for testers, they are not a consumer forum. I do not see why I need a dev responce when I report a bug. In bigger issues some dev response might be nice and I have seen plenty of that. Also plenty of bugs being fixed so clearly they listening.

CS is usually not active in the beta to much and yes if they are your in luck. I mean CS is there, just normally not involved in beta related issues (like giving back lost items and these kind of issues)
