"From what I've seen so far DnD 3.5 rules are hardly any different from basic 3rd edition...  all they did was tweak a few things here and add a few things here and made a new pretty cover and retailed 3 new books at $30 a pop.
Anyways... back on topic...  If it [Dnd Online] uses true DnD rules and gives players the freedom they should get in a DnD game it could damned well be a force to be reckoned with... however its most likely just another blight on the DnD name by wizards of the coast... I'm look more towards Lejendary Adventure (yes its spelled like that).  Gary Gygax the godfather of RPGs is in on production there... go check it out on the game list..."

Ya, a good MMRPG is all about freedom, thats a main reason why i enjoy PvP, its a big step of freedom that most MMRPG's are taking away.

And ya, it would be a great game if they gave it freedom, but, its hopeful, but sort of doubtful.

    My only beef with PvP is people who just slaughter people to piss them off... newb killing and rez killing really gets my blood hot -.- aside from that I believe anywhere and everywhere should be PvP enabled (kinda like UO) although killing sprees in town can have negative effects on ones health ^^;

I also believe in the difference between PvP and PK and I think their should be big negatives for rampant PKing (like not being able to get near a town without a guard whacking you)

meh... I'm just rambling so sleepy -.-

I can remember going on PKing sprees in UO... killing everything in site.  I remember when they (Origin) started to put random guards in the fields so pkers would just "die" if they where red...  I quit shortly after that.

Imo, it should be sort of like Baldurs Gate II while you were in amn, you start murdering everyone in sight, you'll have a couple dozen cowled wizards and amnish centurions portal in and start attacking you.

But then there should be cities that are like the dock district in amn, controlled by thugs, thieves and assassins, where criminals walk in the streets. Without interference from the law.

And as well there should be faction, if your a rampant murderer in one city, your gonna have horrid faction in that certain city, and not exactly welcome by guards.

Naturally a world has cities that don't care for the law or places in a city one can hide out... none of this UO guard crap.  For those who don't know guards in UO would appear next to you and hit you... and that would be it.  A guard should be strong yes... but far from immortal.  A stronger player should be able to take a guard without getting hurt too much... and a maxed out player should have little to fear from 3 or 4 at a time.  Anyway I think PK at its greatest would have the same consequences as murder in real life and the same process for catching the culprit.  Having a bounty on your head can really get someone to slow down for abit maybe even add in a disguise system.  Although making reputation by city is a good idea I also think that if they commit enough crime their wanted level should spread out of the city and across an entire principality/kingdom/empire or whatever...

A bounty, yes, but only by PC's, not NPC's. And IMO, yes, guards should be fairly strong, but not even extremely strong. They're strength should be in numbers, a guard would be less trained then a knight, or a military unit, i'm thinking about the strength of expertly trained militia, but in well populated cities, there would be enormous amounts of guards. IMO a maxed out player should be able to take on about 10-15 guards at once, and a strong player about 5. I mean its maxed out players you see battling dragons....guards arent exactly on the match of dragons. As for murder in real life consequences being in a game....well....No, it shouldnt; its exactly that, a game. A disguise system seems rather pointless.

As for your wanted level spreading across the realm, ya, but i think you would have to get rather despicable for that, this is the medieval era, information didnt travel very fast.

From what i remember of UO if you have a good connection you would always outrin the guards.

Back when I played it about 1998 many thieves would outrun the guards simply by pathing their way thru trees.

Although it was not much of a problem back then because it was very few who had cable  it seems most were on 56k.

    Not sure what happens now.

Out run guards...  I can remember in UO they would yell GUARDS.  And *poof* you wouldn't get a change to out run guards... you would always die.

I can remember at the bank you would see people's macros...

Guards open my bank box please buy ....  I always thought that was funny.

    Thank you Captain Obvious -.-

Yes guards in UO suck... though it was fun watching people try to kill them by standing just outside a walled guarded area and try to take them with Blade Spirits image

I am excited about Face of Mankind. It is set in the future and it is going to meld together RPG and FPS.  It will be story driven by the players themselves.

I have been tracking the game for a while and they are accepting beta applications and looks to be very promising.

Dragon Empires and Horizons look pretty interesting and I'm definately into something more of a story-driven MMORPG.

Thanks for the tip, Killer. Went and checked it out, and Face certainly looks pretty good. If anyone's into a sci-fi First Person story-oriented RPG, it'd really be worth it to check that one out. The economic system is really intriguing (if it works out the way the developers plan it to) and I think it's that kind of unique-ness that gives this game a bit of potential.
