I feel the biggest problem TERA has in Korea is the gap between the content patches are too long. This will definitely be a problem in the US if they continue this trend. If they want to keep players interested, they need to release content faster to be honest. After QOA2 got released, the numbers went up a little. Why do the same content over and over when there's something new that's released like Diablo 3 and Blade and Soul?
For the US side, I'll definitely keep playing TERA until there's another MMO with action combat I enjoy. The combat makes it difficult for me to enjoy any other MMO in the market today.
April = 134,717 May = 92,580 June 1st week = 67,931 June 2nd week = 63,099 June 3rd week = 49,664 (-21.29%) June 4th week = 41,163 (-17.12%) July 1st week = 46,792 (+13.67%) July 2nd week = 47,711 (+1.96%)
The only way to keep their numbers in Korea is to release content faster. The numbers will be stable again for now but as people beat the new dungeons and get bored of the battlegrounds, they'll just go back to Blade and Soul. At least no one has beaten the Queen of Argon yet. It must be a very difficult fight.
Originally posted by Postcards I noticed Blade and Soul lost some numbers too. It will be interesting to see how that game goes in the next couple of months.
Well Aion just came out with 3.5, that added allot of new stuff. So some Koreans are going back to Aion to check that out. Also the new Queens Blade MMO just came out. The female characters in that game make Tera's look like church women. Queens Blade should be called "Porn the MMO", so lots of young Korean men are busy playing that game.
Blade and Soul will be coming out with an expansion in just a few weeks. NCsoft is even making fun of BHS, saying at least we make content..lol You will also be able to play for free up to lvl 15 in the next coming weeks.
Lots of K-Tera players are complaining about the lack of content in QOA part 2. For those that don't know QOa part 2 has 3 new 5 man dungeons, 1 20 man raid, 1 BG and new dailies.
Koreans complain that the 20 man raid is so stupid, it only lasts 10 mins max, if your good.
There is only 1 BG, so you have to grind that 1 BG forever to get your pvp gear.
Shandra Manaya 5 man dungeon is impossible to do unless you have full T14 +12 gear. So that leaves only 1 viable 5 man endgame dungeon to do, to get your T14 gear.
So Qoa part 2 only has 1 viable 5 man dungeon to do and 1 BG. To make up for such little endgame BHS has increased the RNG and decreased the drop rate. Koreans don't like it at all and are complaining.
When I heard they only had 1 BG, it did worry me a bit. Which RNG are you talking about? I'm wondering if it's the enchanting system they changed to make it like the NA version. TERA keeps making some changes to the mechanics of the game which is my guess to why the lack of content. There definitely needs to be more end game dungeons to do in the game. I always felt the biggest weakness in the game is the gap between the content patches which doesn't even have a lot of content to begin with.

Yeah I'm not sure why BHS would do that to create even more vocal complaints. For the 3rd week of July it went a little bit up to 48k, but considering the game had over 1 million simultaneous log-ins at one point... well. It seems the F2P server did help a bit, but that really isn't creating a ton of revenue since the purpose of that level 50 cap server is to eventually transfer over to one of the 4 paying servers.
NHN TERA for the first time, since it went live, dipped down to 3k... to the point that it was borderline dipping below that. By its current trend, chances are it will dip down to 2k within a week or two. They started off around 48k, which is the current South Korean number.
There was a response yesterday from Frogster as well that they are currently having talks about having a server merge, but there is no set date.
From the looks of it (from another thread) it seems there is one populated PVE and 1 populated PVP server, while the others fall behind quite a bit. There might be a 3rd server that might be doing moderately well. Worst case scenario is they drop down to 2 servers (1 PVP and 1 PVE). Best case scenario might be 4 breaking it down to 2 of each type, similar to what BHS and NHN have.
I don't think we will hear anything from EME till after August at the earliest. The thing is though; the PVE side of things has been hurting since last month. Some threads asked for server merges since last month, but were quickly closed.

When a game launched just 3 months ago announce its first server merge is not a good advertisement BUT the more they postpone the server merge the more players will leave
Not surprised with the way Frogster has been running the game. I think it took them about two months to finally catch up to EME's patches. Those that like the game are migrating to the US servers.
BHS has been desperately trying to get new investors and fans. But are having a hard time, due to massive sub losses and profit losses.
So they been trying to convince the Korean public that everything is going super over in North America. They have been showing this video to the Korean public showing how wonderful BHS has been to Na.
Here is a video of EME telling how wonderful BHS is, at making such awesome content such as sit and jump..lol Seriously when BHS showed this video at a News conference I could not stop laughing...lol

I like TERA and all but what the hell was that crap? lol
Share one thing we are very grateful for:
I. Now you can sit down... together... here. Very Good!
II. I remember when there was no Jump in TERA. Now look! I can jump like crazy.
III. I really like jumping.
IV. Karasha used to kick my ass. It was so challenging.
V. I knew TERA was going to be something special.
VI. BlueHole has lived up to the promise from day one. They delivered on everything they said they were going to deliver. North America!
VII. Thank you for the dedication, passion, and effort it took to make TERA a global product. (And yet for some reason they chose NHN Japan and Frogster as partners to spearhead this project).
Note that the High Elf that talks from 1:14 to 1.35 has sort of... kind of a... "Deep" voice. Imagine taking out her out to dinner and the first thing she says is "Hey, you got a Cuban cigar?"

The problem is that Koreans like more open world based MMOs, with grind and massive open world pvp-pk, look at Lineage 1, it still is the 3rd most played MMO there. Westerners like themeparks, where you reach level cap quickly following a quest chain and after this, go to instances for gear grind forever, doing the same instances over and over. The problem is that NA players just play new wow clones for 1 month and after just go back to wow.

Numbers for last week:

April = 134,717
May = 92,580
June 1st week = 67,931
June 2nd week = 63,099
June 3rd week = 49,664 (-21.29%)
June 4th week = 41,163 (-17.12%)
July 1st week = 46,792 (+13.67%)
July 2nd week = 47,711 (+1.96%)
This game is pretty much finished in S Korea.

For those that don't know BHS has decided to extend the FTP server till Aug.9th. Giving it an extra 2 weeks, to try and entice new players.
Players who reach lvl 50 on the FTP server can transfer for free to any of the other 4 servers, and get a 50% discount off the sub price.
I wonder if this makes a dent in the sub numbers.

lol
I don't see it as a big deal. If people remember the pre wow days, you frequently saw a larger drop than that in the first couple months.
